I hope it's ok to post this. I've done a search for free credit which turned up 12 pages but don't think I've seen this offer posted on this board recently. The offer closes 28th February.

You used to be able to register with more than one email address, but it appears that is not the case this time. Fair enough I suppose. ;)

What did you put in the "Where I Live" box.
I put Australia.

I used Australia and it demanded a postcode - Wiki came to my aid and provided one.

I just put in my normal (Royal Mail) post code and it was accepted.
Just used my first credit and ordered the cert.
Three pounds dearer than our GRO, though. Still - all round, a bit of a bargain ;D ;D ;D ;D

I did get another lot of credits by registering my partner. Same PC, same postcode, just different name and email address.

Not sure how this works.
Just registered and it says your unique code will be emailed.
Received email and to redeem credits visit Scotlandpeople. Now from here I'm lost. Do I have to register as a new user.
So do I have to register twice, once at Ancestral Scotland then Scotlandpeople, if not where do I enter this code.

Hi Kaz
If you are already registered with Scotlandspeople you don't have to re-register. The email you received says that to redeem these credits, please visit www.ScotlandsPeople.gov.uk/AncestralScotland.htm and follow the instructions provided.
If you are not already registered with Scotlandspeople then you need to register with them first.

Kaz, I hope you can follow this:
If you are registered with SP, go to your account, then to the top of the page where it says "do you need more credits".
Once you click on that you will go to a page where you have the option to purchase more credits, however if you go a little further down the page, there is a section which asks you if you have credits to redeem or some such thing.
Anyway, there is a box there where you enter the code that Ancestral Scotland emailed to you.

Hi all
I registered with Ancestral Scotland & then they apparently send u an email so u can claim your credits through Scots(which I am already registered for). However I have not recieved my email yet & I did the original request on AS on Thursday. This morn I thought I might try another addy but the site won't let me as it says ' this is a duplicate submission - please do not register more than once'.
I don't know what I can do next to claim my credits etc. Any ideas????

You could try changing your personal details slightly and using a different email address by setting up a new email account.

I received mine instantly, yesterday.
I have just tried another registration with different browser, email address and names, postcode etc. No email has arrived.
I bet they are swamped with registrations now it's out on Rootschat. ;)

Thanks David & Jamjar - yeah tried changing my personal details , using an other email addy etc. Will try with a different browser though. I might leave it a few hours then try again. I thought that was a bit weird when I did not receive the email straight away as I have been watching this post & everyone seems to have received their emails promptly.

can anybody tell me if this offer is still on and if so how do I manage to get the credits. I have tried to register but nothing was mentioned about credits after registering. Help appreciated.

You get the credits from here:

And then (after registering and then logging here) click the 'need more' link in the top right hand corner and scroll down the voucher box and add the voucher you received via email in this box by hitting the 'use voucher' button and the 30 credits will be applied for your account.

thanks for your reply. I have the correct website and have registered 3 times different emails but no credits appeared in my mail also there is no mention on the website for free credits. any other suggestions I can try before the offer expires?

If you have done that and not got an email in returm maybe check to see if its been treated as spam

I have just registered for the free credits and had no bother at all. I even gave them my postcode here in scotland. My sister found this site and just told me about it, even tho it said it finishes in Feb, here we are in June, so keep trying, it does work.

Its a different offer, the one in February was 30 credits and supposedly for Australia/New Zealand residents only. This one is only for 10 credits and most countries are listed. Interestingly I wonder if you don't get the credits if you don't tick the box to get their emagazine?!

oh right, well 10's better than nothing. You probably have to sign up to e-zine, but would imagine that it can be unsubscibed from at a later date
