Title: THOMAS Family at Gresford and Rossett
Post by: jannergray on Wednesday 24 February 10 21:58 GMT (UK)
Hello everyone

I am trying to trace my THOMAS ancestors from the Gresford and Rossett area.

I have traced my line back to Samuel THOMAS who was born at Gresford in 1808. It appears that he was baptised at Gresford on the 1st January 1809, the son of Thomas and Ann THOMAS.

Does anyone have access to the parish registers and could trace a marriage for Thomas THOMAS to Ann ???

or

Does anyone connect to the THOMAS family or suggest ways in which to trace this line of my family further?

I'd be greatful for any help or advice!

Thanks

Graham

Hello jannergray,

Freereg has the baptisms of siblings of Thomas, including another Thomas, baptised in Gresford 12/08/1804, son of Thomas and Ann Thomas, abode Allington.

There was a William Thomas baptised 16/11/1806, son of Thomas and Ann Thomas, abode The Rosset, occupation labourer.

I haven't looked at all of them but the transcriptions for Gresford are pretty good on that site.

I couldn't find a marriage for Thomas and Ann but there is a marriage as follows:

05/09/1797 George Thomas bachelor, of this parish, to Mary Lloyd, spinster of this parish. Witnesses were: Thomas Thomas and William Thomas. Married by Licence.

How did you get on with tracing your Thomas line from Allington?

I'm descended from John Thomas baptised 1800 the son of Thomas Thomas, so Samuel's brother.

If you got back any further I'd be interested to know about it.

Thanks

Philip
