'An' explanation here of where the name came from. Take your pick from Google.
http://homepage.eircom.net/~majak/mnoctor/GerardIndex.htm
wrt the marriage, it's a bit of a no-brainer, unless I'm missing something.
Name: Anne Noctor
Registration district: Gorey
Record type: MARRIAGES
Registration date - quarter and year: 1868
Volume: 12
Page: 667
Name: Charles Burke
same details.
Where did you get your estimate of 1873 for the marriage?
Dara.
-
Suspect that estimate for marriage date is merely year before son Michael's estimated year of birth.
Two more children listed in IGI (www.familysearch.org)-
1. Charles born 1 July 1875 Co. Wexford
2. Ann born 18 Nov.1876 Co.Wexford

Hello Dara,
Thank you for your reply. I was told my a family member that the married approx 1873? They are not 100% sure though on it.
Yours sounds a bit more accurate!
Thanks again

To answer your question about Ann Noctor's birth- civil registration of births in Ireland began in 1864. Since Ann was born before that date you'd need to search for church records of a baptism (if such records still exist). Her marriage certificate should list her father's name and occupation and names of bioth witnesses might be helpful.
See here for information on marriage certificates and how to order them-

Sorry, I dont have any other information, just that the house (Ballinamona, Camolin) changed hands around 1918. However, if they exist, it might be worth checking parish records for that area. You can see which Noctor was at this house in the online 1911 census.
Cheers

Searching 1911 census for 'Noctor' shows 181 entries- lots in Co. Dublin but also some in Co. Wexford, etc.-
www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search
Also lots of Noctors in Co. Wexford listed in LDS records (IGI, etc.)- www.familysearch.org

Not looking too good on church records, but you might just be lucky.
The NLI site http://www.nli.ie/en/parish-register.aspx shows Gorey baptisms available on microfilm P.4256 for 1845 - 1880 and marriages from 1845 – 1880 with a gap in 1847. Might be worth checking with your nearest LDS facility if you're not in Ireland.
Not sure if earlier records are available in Gorey. Someone with better local knowledge may be able to advise.

Peter Knocktor had house/land in Ballinamona in c 1853. An Andrew Noctor and his wife Elizabeth lived in the same house/land in 1901. The same Andrew Noctor and his wife Dorah lived there in 1911. I know the house. I think there was 6 children born to Anne Noctor and Charles Burke

Anne Noctor's address is given as Ballinclare in church register, her father was John. Ballinclare is close to Ballycanew. there was a John Knoctor living in Ballinclare according to Griffiths c 1853

It is very interesting how these very rare sir names are distributed.
Eventually they may die out

"Anne? Around the ballinclare co Wexford area in the late 1800s ?"
What's around late 1800s? her birth, marriage, death, just alive then?

If my memory is correct there's another thread somewhere with more information on it.
-
This one perhaps? although that makes what's been posted here even more confusing-

It gets confusing going from one thread to another and then back again!
That looks like the thread I was thinking of but haven't read all of it.
