My grandfather was Gunner Arthur Jennison
Serial No 219844 RFA
I always understood he got wounded at Passendale, possibly the Battle of Broodseinde.
Can anybody confirm this, or point me in the right direction on how I get information.

Hello Andrew and welcome to Rootschat,
Unfortunately you have fallen into the trap that many before you have done. The 298B is a reference to the actual medal roll, not the brigade that Arthur served in.
As he was awarded the Silver War Badge, you should be able to get his enlistment and discharge date from the SWB Rolls, but they and the medal rolls are only available to view at Kew. There is also an outside chance that the brigade will be given on one of the Rolls, but apparently this is quite rare.
I can't see a surviving service record for him either.

Hi I had an arthur jennison who was in WW1 he is the brother of my grandmother. He was born in 1893 in Hull.

My grandfather - Arthur Jennison was born in Snainton, nr Pickering,in 1892.
After the war he settled in Driffield until his death in 1927
So unfortunately ,they are not the same person.

Hi,
I think your grandfather Arthur was the brother of my grandad George Johnson Jennison also born at Snainton. my Dads name is William Arthur ( known as Arthur) , so I guess he is a cousin of your dad?

This could well be the case.
I have got George Jennison down as a labourer in 1911 in Snainton,age 26
Arthur Jennison was living on at Fowlbridge Farm as Third lud age 19
He died in 1927 in Driffield age 34, my father was 9 month's old.
I have just asked my father, " Did he have a cousin Arthur"
Unfortunately, the Jennison side of the family never contacted him as he grew up , so he doesn't know.
This is very interesting.
I have been trying to piece together Arthur Jennison's War record , but unfortunately many of the records where destroyed in WW2.
Snainton is only a little village, and a name Johnson Jennison is not common, so it looks like we are related!

Well its great to make a connection! You may like to know that George married age 34 and eventually settled in Middlesbrough where he worked as a fireman in the steelworks. That was where my dad was born although he now lives in York after a full career in the Army Catering corps. My dad was born 1936 and was one of five, all since passed.
Unfortnately I have no info on Arthur and wish you good luck. If you wish to exchange more info, please let me know
