Hi
Does anyone out there know anything about the Radwell family from the Upper Winchendon area, in particular Sarah Radwell who was the daughter of Lucy Radwell who was in turn the daughter of William Radwell & Mary Radwell nee Sumnner.
I believe the Radwell women would have been in service for the Rothschild family at their country estate Ascott House which is situated in or near Wing.
Any info would be much appreciated, thankyou.

Thankyou Pam for that info, i do already have most of it as you say but i appreciate you taking the time to reply to my post, after speaking to one or two family members it would appear that Lucy and her daughter Sarah were in service together for the Rothshilds family but i can't seem to find any record of it anywhere.
Kind Regards

Hi ,I am Sarah Radwells great grandaughter. I have got her marriage cert but the fathers name is blank. She had a sister Ginerva Radwell. I am having problems establishing who Sarahs father was. Her mother Lucy Radwell married twice. Firstly to William Childs and then to Thomas Meads...neither of whom were Sarah's father. Can you shed any light on this?
Thanks

Hi,
Thankyou for your reply, unfortunately i don't know who the father was of Sarah and Ginevra....It's great that you have her marriage cert, i've been searching everywhere for a photo of her, but as of yet i've not managed to find one, but i do have a couple of Ginevra and other members of the Radwell family.....but....i did have the good fortune of meeting Sarah once, and i had to stand in front of her so she could feel my face as she was blind, but i remember her as being a lovely lady......and Thomas Mead was my great grandfather....

Hi
Thanks for that.
I'm beginning to think this will be one mystery that will remain unravelled. Ironically ,Sarah had two illegitimate daughters. My nan,Elizabeth Elsie and my Auntie Doll (Doris). Their fathers are a mystery too!!!!
Nan and Auntie Doll lived next door to one another in Northfields,Dunstable for years. Auntie Doll was married to Charlie Mead......any relative of yours??

They certainly are Belinda......they are my grandparents, and my dad was Charlie 'Dinky' Mead, i remember Elsie as well.....I seem to recognise your name, but i can't place you, who are your parents?.....and do you know anyone in the family who might have a photo Sarah?...I contacted Tony Norton a while back but he hasn't got one, so i thought of getting in touch with cousin Rita to see if me auntie Jean might have one!!!...i also phoned me auntie Jenny, she said she had one, but she can't find it!!!...Grrrrrr!!!...lol....The trouble is, i live in the West Midlands now, and it's a bit awkward to get in touch with older members of the family.....

Wow!! My dad is Elsie's youngest son Brian. He talks about growing up with Dinky all the time!!!! My son's think its hilarious the strife they used to get into!! Well I can beat you on distance....I'm in NZ now and so are my parents. I'll get my dad to talk to my auntie Barbara and see if she has any photos. So do you know who nan and auntie dolls father was?? Am I right in thinking that Auntie Doll was Thomas Mead's step grandaughter and Uncle Charlie was his son. Therefore they were related by marriage before they married.....how bizarre??
