Title: Robert [Bertie] TODD from Glynn, Antrim
Post by: Tarnwater on Thursday 29 April 10 12:22 BST (UK)
Hello,
I am trying to find the family of Robert [known as Bertie] TODD, born about 1904. His parents were James TODD born abt. 1861, and Sarah Jane McNeill born abt. 1863. All were living in Glynn, Antrim in 1911. Robert [Bertie] moved to Canada, I believe he married Margaret STUART. It might have been his two sons that visited the family home called 'Rosario', Glynn, Antrim around 2005. I would like to make contact with any living relative.
Thank you,
Brian

Brian,

Do you know his birthdate, or perhaps the year he married?

The only record I found that came close was a 1926 Incoming Passenger List for a Robert Todd born about 1901.  He was travelling to Montreal to visit a friend, Harry Corbett.  Robert Todd's father was listed as J K Todd of Glen Road, Suffolk, Dunmurry, Co. Antrim.

Hello James,
Thank you for trying to find Robert [Bertie] for me. The only information that I have been able to find is a distant memory from my mother about the name of the woman he married, Margaret Stuart, and his age from the Census of Ireland, 1911. His younger brother was born in 1891 in Glynn, Antrim and I think Robert was born in Glynn as well.
I visited the family home Rosario, in 2007. The owner told me about two men from Canada that had called at the house in 2005. There were four boys from the eleven children born to James and Sarah Jane Todd. Robert and his brother David Andrew are the only ones that emigrated and remain a mystery. The men from Canada I believe are Robert's decendants.
Thanks again,
Brian

brian,
Have you ever considered doing a DNa analysis of the Todds you know so that you could link with descendants of the canadian family eventually?

http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/copies/index-e.html

http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/databases/index-e.html

click on Immigration Records (1925-1935), SEARCH, enter Todd, Robert
will bring up 8 Robert Todd's, click on #3, brings up info on who I think may be your Robert Todd
If you click on Search Help at the top right hand side, it will bring up info such as How to consult a Record or Order a Copy. If you live near the archives you can look this info up yourself. the original passenger list may have his contact info in country coming from and may have his destination and contact person in Canada.

There may be someone who can do a look up for you on this site. The info I found is

Hello
Thank you all for helping. Since I posted my request, a letter arrived from Northern Ireland, giving more details about Bertie. It was his sons Stuart and Martin who emigrated to Canada, and I have a contact address for one of them. Thank you again for all your help.
