While I was in Ayrshire recently I was trying to find out how to contact for poor relief records in Wigtownshire, specifically for people that lived in Port Patrick in the mid 1800's. I'm now back home but still want to follow this line of inquiry.
Does anyone know who I should contact that might hold the poor relief records for this area?
Thanks in advance.

Well, it's several months later and I'm revisiting this question.
I have been able to find this site online which has minutes of the Poor Board
http://www.dgcommunity.net/historicalindexes/poorboard.aspx
I've run a search for some of my names and come up with quite a number of Dunn's. I'm wondering if there is anywhere that actually holds archives of poor relief applications etc.

Thank you for posting this site. I don't expect to find ancestors in D&G but I am enjoying browsing this site. I wish I could find the same for the areas I am researching. Hope you find applications.
