Title: Wicklow - Kelly
Post by: JoKelly on Saturday 26 March 05 20:50 GMT (UK)
I am looking for information on Patrick Luke Kelly married to Francis Byrne.  Their children were Mary, Catherine, Patrick, Edward, and Luke Francis.  Luke Francis was born in Ashford, County Wicklow, Aug 15, 1828.  Luke Francis moved to the United States sometime between 1850 and 1859.

Hi Jo

Sorry we haven't been able to help you so far on this one.

Have you had a look at all the usual resources I tend to suggest?  ;)

The General Register Office of Ireland (http://www.groireland.ie/)

The Public Record Office of Northern Ireland (http://www.proni.gov.uk/)

Irish Roots (http://www.irishroots.net/)

The National Library of Ireland (http://www.nli.ie/)

Irish Genealogy (http://www.irishgenealogy.ie/frame_1024.cfm)

Genealogical Society of Ireland (http://www.familyhistory.ie/)

Irish Ancestors (http://www.ireland.com/ancestor/)

National Archives of Ireland (http://www.nationalarchives.ie/)

Perhaps you would like to have a look at these resources to see if there is anything that might help you.

Please come back with any further queries or to let us know how you get on.

Best wishes

In the 1870 census, there is a Luke Byrne in Ward 4, Salem, Essex County, Massachusetts; age 42; currier; born in Ireland; parents foreign born; cannot write; married to Mary A.; age 43; keeping house; born in Ireland; parents foreign born; cannot write; and daughters Ellen (14) and Catherine (10), both in school and born in Massachusetts.

Hi Ticker,

Thank you for the advice :)

Yes, I've tried all of those.  I wrote to the county Wicklow Genealogy Society and they want $200 to provide information.  I was hoping to find something that wouldn't cost me that much, but I guess I'm going to have to shell out the money.  :(

Hi Jo

I would persevere a bit longer before parting with your cash - someone might come up with something for you - fingers crossed.

Best wishes
