Title: Army Officer weds in India?
Post by: flocklet on Monday 28 March 05 12:36 BST (UK)
Greetings fellow family seekers! I'm trying to get information regarding my Grandfather Henry Charles MASKELL b 1886. Family talk is he married for the 1st time a lady whilst in India, whilst serving in the Army  & had to wait for her to expire??before marrying again in 1950, at the age of 64!. How do I find out about this 1st marriage. Any ideas would be greatly helpful.
Kind Regards, Stella in Humid Hot Queensland, Australia! :D

Hi

You could try an overseas search on 1837Online http://www.1837online.com/Trace2web/
It is a pay to view site but may be of use

Lacie

Hi green, ... sorry, Stella !

try this link too, you may get lucky and find out more about Henry:

Immigrants / LINKS: Ancestors in British India (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,30580.0.html)

Also, (long shot, but who knows !) try the TNA (The National Archive) for MASKELL,
you never know your luck !
That's: http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/
and in particular: http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/militaryhistory/

Good luck !
Bob
