Title: Grachan/Greghan/Graghan/Grahan etc
Post by: marhold30 on Sunday 06 June 10 08:19 BST (UK)
I have so many variations of my maiden name !  Martin b circa 1845 and Michael b circa 1831  GRACHAN (this how it is spelt today) arrived in Tasmania  Australia 1856 with their mother Mary ? b1805  - no other known family in Tasmania or Ireland  Cant find them on shipping records.  Family lore says they are from County Clare and their Australian marriage certificates say Ireland only  Would love to hear from anyone who might be able to help me trace them back in Ireland

Hi Marhold30

Have you thought that the name could be Geaghan/Gagen/Gagan/Geoghan/Geoghegan etc? I'm researching this family and it's many permutations and couldn't help but notice the similarity. I believe my Geaghans (contemporary spelling) also came from Co. Clare.
Regards
Lee
