Well here we go...WILLIAM BRUNTON was born c1798 and he was a ploughman.
He married JANET NOTMAN in 1821 in Peebles,Peebleshire,Scot.
He died pre 1851 and she died pre1855.
(A 1855 date would have made me happy)
2 of the 7 known children were born in Peebles c 1822 & 1824.
I believe one or 2 are buried there,(1820's timeframe)
This family would only have been there a short time.
Maybe 1820 to 1825.
BUT maybe JANET NOTMAN 's family was from there.
Has anyone run into them?
Thanks in advance.

Hi
There is a headstone in the old Newlands churchyard erected by James Notman in memory of his mother Marion Thorburn who died 19.04.1827 aged 71 and his brother Walter Notman who died on 01.02.1824 aged 31. Perhaps the brothers and mother of Janet.

That is amazing where do you find out about headstones? Do you visit the cemetery, or is there a site for this? ;D

Hi
I live in the area and am interested in the history of the church here. I have a copy of all the old monumental inscriptions at Newlands and thought I would check to see if there was any Notmans buried there.
