Title: The CONLINS
Post by: bodge on Tuesday 06 July 10 12:08 BST (UK)
My mother tells me that her mother told her that (grans father) the Conlins had held a seat of high office in munster.  Now as my mum is scottish i started in scotlands people and using it conjunction with lds, igi etc I managed to trace to a certain extent most of the family history.  The Conlins however are traceable only to John Conlin where there are no further records or at least no further matches (I could be wrong) Does anyone know of immigration records from anywhere in Europe.  Particularly Germany?

Conlin is a common Irish surname and Munster is the name of a province in Ireland so perhaps you should be looking for an Irish connection rather than a German one.

What you probably need to do is trace the family through all possible Scottish census records checking place of birth and see if there's any sign of an Irish connection.

Information available will probably depend on what dates are involved.
