Title: Evaskad, Eveskett, Evasked...???
Post by: gabhanach on Saturday 17 July 10 13:42 BST (UK)
??? interested in finding out more about a joseph eveskett who was a retired bamboo furniture maker from poland/russia and living in dundalk, co louth, ireland in 1911. his original place of business was inner city dublin, just off grafton street. he was one of my great-great-grandfathers and was married on 1st december 1898 in brighton england to a mary macginnis (mcguinness). his father is given as simon (deceased) on the marriage cert and i would be interested to hear from any evaskad/eveskett/evasked's. i know from the little research i've done that there may be some people of this name in the oxfordshire region.

Welcome to Rootschat  :)

Gabhanach made several posts about this family but hasn't been logged in here since 2012 so you may not get a reply from them.

Since then, however, lots of new resources have come online so please let us know if we can help you find more details on the family.

For reference, here's the 1911 census link-

Wow, that's brilliant. At last someone to help me find out more about these mysterious people. So who did your grandmother marry in Belfast in 1920? Looks like the name may have died out around here when her brother died in 1940. Greetings, Gavin Hoey.

Lindagowdy only has 1 post which is why you are getting the error message. Once she makes another post the PM system should work.

Hi Gavin  Thanks for getting back to me I'm a bit slow trying to find my way around this website !!! How long have you been investigating the Evaskads??and are you related to Sharon Murray whose post on another site I came across some time ago? And who is Aghadowey? So many questions !!! I was very close to my grandmother she played a large part in my upbringing. She had 2 daughters Nellie who emigrated to Australia in the early 60s and my mum who was 8yrs younger.Nanny lived all her days in east Belfast and died 26Th Dec 1990 Funny enough I made a kind of pilgrimage to the house in Scotland Road earlier this year.I have 2 brothers and a sister I'm so thrilled to have made this connection with you as the Russian ancestry has always been such a mystery!! Hope to hear more from you soon Linda

Probably started collecting information about the Evaskads about 5 years ago. Sharon is a first cousin of my Mum, I haven't met her yet but I knew she was interested in this sort of stuff too. Aghadowey is just a site administrator who keeps an eye on things and helps out with useful posts from time to time. So the Fullerton's lived in East Belfast, well that's interesting. I'm sure my Gran did mention that to me before, but I just never made the connection. Regards, Gavin Hoey.

I resigned as a moderator quite a while ago but if you are North Antrim I probably don't live too far away  ;)
