Just found this out off another board
''The Collegiate Church of St Mary &c was the 'parish church' of Manchester from c 1215 to 1847, when the Diocese of Manchester was created (out of the Diocese of Chester), and the Collegiate Church became Manchester Cathedral''

Hi Cissy, Very many thanks for all your research. Being in NZ it is sometimes hard to access all the stuff available, especially from home.
I have come to the conclusion that you're correct with almost all of the records you unearthed. In the interim I have scouted around and found another birth for Joseph and Hannah - James 1812 (possibly died as a babe). Also found wot I think is their marriage in Prestwich (28 Oct 1807) - Hannah's maiden name being Wilde - think daughter of Joseph and Mary Wilde (nee peacock) and Hannah born at Royton and christened on 20.8.1786 at Oldham.
Still having no luck in finding wot happened to their son Bernard (born 1813). Know he was alive and in England for 1841 census - a visitor at James and Esthers home that night, together with his sisters Levinah and Alice.
Found wot I suspect is death of Joseph Wilde Radcliffe (born 1837 to James & Esther) - 1839 in Cholton.
Also think that several of Joseph & Hannah's children died young -
James born 1812, Matilde, Emma 1816, for instance. Yet to do any research on Major born 1820.
Again many thanks for your great help

Hi Trish, Found some Radcliffe F/trees on Ancestry, but I am sceptical of some of the info and connections - needs further investigation. A couple of them go back a further 8 generations from Joseph - back to 1500's! I am in the middle of trying to verify some of this. Cheers! :P

Hi Cissy172, I was very surprised to see your posting after such a long time - I have been working on other branches of the family and haven't done any research on the Radcliffe line for some months. Yes I agree that this is a "poss"
for Bernard - would certainly explain his vanishing after 1841.
In perusing wot you have found it looks as tho it could be a second marriage for him. First of all there is the large age gap between husband and wife, then the gap from son age 13 to daughter age 5. Going on age of eldest listed daughter, he would have married first around 1844/5 at about 32 years old. I will trawl thru marriages in UK again, but he possibly married in USA?
Many thanks for your info
Noeline L :o

Frustration - trawled the marriages in Britain in 1840-1845 having regard to age of eldest daughter - no luck! Can anyone see "passage to USA during that time?
Ta in advance
