Hi everyone,
Is there some kind person out there that can possibly check on the 1841 census for my Gt Grandfather John Lewis that was born in Llanbadarn Fawr, Aberystwyth.
Working back off the census's I already have, I am sure he was born in 1841, but not sure if he was born before or after the census date, as checking on FreeBMD have found about 6 or 7 John Lewis's born in the Aberystwyth area between 1840 and 1842.
On his marriage certificate it show's his father as also being a John Lewis.
Any help would be greatly appreciated and many thanks in advance.

if you found him on earlier census what year does it give born? Are you saying he was born 1841? Who is he with in 1851?

Looking at the 1841 for Llanbadarn Fawr between 1839-1841 - all John Lewis entries had a father with a different name than John
There was one entry b 1839 who appears to be with grandparents

The latest census I have is 1871 showing him to be living at Tonfanau Farm Llangelynin being 30 years of age and born in Llanbadarn,
RG10/5689 page2. He then in 1872 married my Gt Grandmother Elizabeth Angel.

(P.S. Also he died on the 16th Feb 1919 in the Pontypridd Area aged 78, which also throws his birth back to 1841).

Sorry could not find folio number on census could paste census on here if you need it I cross checked it with ancestry.co.uk and on the list gives it as:
Civil parish: Llangelynin
County/Island: Merionethshire
Country: Wales
Registration district: Dolgelly
Sub-registration district: Talyllyn
ED, institution, or vessel: 16
Household schedule number: 7
Head: Robert Jones

have looked on 861 census very difficult with the name Lewis I think you will have to buy the marriage certificate at least you can narrow it down. Lewis is a very popular name in that area I have lewis's myself from aber so really would advise to go the way of the certificate John Lewis could be any of them

Does he give Llanbadarn Fawr as his place of birth on any census? 1871 shows just Llanbadarn. There's a possible in Llanbadarn Odwyn with a father called John
HO107/2487 folio 120 pg 6
IGI extracted baptism 14/5/1841 Llanbadarn Odwyn batch C080761 son of John & Jane.

Many thanks once again for your help, on one other census shows him as coming from Aberystwyth so assumed Llanbadarn was Llanbadarn Fawr as it came under Aberystwyth, but what you have sounds very promising will check it out on Google earth and maps.

Llanbadarn Odwyn isn't near Aberystwyth

so more likely to be Llanbadarn Fawr
