I am looking for information on Trenet Emily Alice Garner, and would be particularly keen to hear from any descendants.
Lived Middlesex, then West Ham, later moved to Sevenoaks.
Possibly ran a tea shop there.

Suz, you're a star! That is far more than I ever hoped for or expected.
Yes, we have the census details from 1881 thru 1911, but only of the McDermotts, not the married ones.
I will have to go back to the census for Freeborn, Manning and Bailey.
I had already suspected that Alice Bailey was Alice McDermott, as she was described as single woman, (widow?) rather than spinster.
Ronella (not Rowella) Aldina Emma Garner (nee Sievers) was Trenett's mother, and my own G-G-grandmother.
By the way, Trenet (a Breton name) had been used for a long time in the family. One Trenet Garner was married in 1834. Ronella was a contraction of Petronella, her grandmother's name, and is sill in use in our family. Aldina also goes back a few generations.

What lovely names.
I read Ronella as Rowella from her signature -which did have marks on it
It is difficult to trace John and Charles as there are several possibilities
There are Johns with middle names William/Henry/Lawrence -all births reg abt same time in Essex
there is also a Charles Owen who is a possibility

Few of the Ronellas seem to have liked the name themselves.
Ronella Ethel was called Ethel
Her daughter Ronella was always called Pops
Ronella Bramwell was Nella
My cousin Ronella is Ronnie.

We believe John and Charles were born in Walthamstow (Would that have been regisered in West Ham?) but we only know their details from the 1911 census, when they lived at 41, Greenleaf Road.

from 1/10/1935 Walthamstow regs were transferred to Essex South Western reg district

And just to make matters more confusing, Trenet's younger sister Flora married Edward's younger brother Harry in 1896, so there is another family of McDermotts whose mother's maiden name is Garner!

Just realised - you said about reading Ronella's signature. Can you let me know where to find it? We don't have any example of her writing, though we do have a photograph of her as a young woman.
