I am trying to find out what happened to my GT Grandfathers brother William and his sister Janet bc 1851.
He was born on 26/1857 in Avoch
His parents were Janet Gray and Alexander McKenzie (labourer)
I think I found William in the 1861 census with his mother and sister at Dock His mum is recorded as being a Quarriers wife. There is no trace of Alexander or my grt grandfather Donald (have Alexander, Janet and Donalds death certs They all died in Aberdeen).
Then I am stuck. Can anyone find William or his sister Janet on any further census

Have looked on Family Search and it states he was a stone cutter. Both my grit grandfather Donald And grit grt grandfather Alexander worked in the Quarries So it could fit.
But as far as I know they were not Catholic

Have looked at the tree on Ancestry and they have Williams father dying in New Zealand but I know for a fact that my Alexander and his wife died in Aberdeen and are buried in Newhills cemetry.
They have attached the same census that I thought were my William
My grt grt grandfather was from Avoch as far as I am aware as my mum used to tell me that my grandmother visited there.
My mum was not aware of any other children

Sorry should have said I have seen that census and think it could be them although Alexander was a quarry worker not at lab.
A bit more info Alexander dies 1887 In Dyce Aberdeen aged 66 no fathers name and only Jane as first name of mother
Janet dies 1877 in Dyce Aberdeen aged 60 father James Gray and mother Janet Wilson
In both cases son Donald reported death

The William from California states in the 1900 census entry that he arrived in the US c. 1882 I have had a quick look on the manifests databases and as yet can't easily see him (but these are not 100%). I thought I could see him in 1881 boarding in Aberdeen in Scotland and then nothing. Could fit with him possibly leaving Scotland?
There is one other William isn't there, born in Avoch and son Hector. I think he shows in the very later censuses with first born son called Hector.

Sorry, meant to have included that in the 1881 census the William I mentioned had the occupation of a mason which I though connected with stone cutter!
