I am looking for a grave of Hugh Letson, in Ballymena/Ballymoney area. Died Ballymena about 1880, not sure what religion :-\

I'm looking for Hugh Letson possibly died Ballymena 1880. His daughter Elizabeth married Michael McKeown in Ballymena 1853. Elizabeth is on the US census 1850 (irish born) and returned to Ireland to marry. I can't find where Hugh was born.... or his wife's name. ;D ;D ;D
Any help would be great, I know its not a common name so that might help.

There's 35 Letson entries in the 1901 Irish census for Co Antrim (which includes Ballymena & Ballymoney).
www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/?then
None for Ballymoney. 1 family in Ballymena (33 Princess St) who are Brethren (ie often referred to incorrectly as Plymouth Brethren). Most other Letsons are Presbyterian, with a few Church of Ireland and a small number of RC.
So you might be looking for a Brethren burial site. I am not sure what their burial arrangements are. They might possibly be in the COI graveyard or in a municipal one.

I thought that the marrige record might have narrowed down the religion but the ceremony was performed in Ballymena Civil Registrars Office on 19 Apr 1893.

Submitted, not extracted, record so would need to be verified. However, since it follows typical LDS 'formula for calculating ages (husban 4 years older than wife, wife age 21 at marriage) I would be very cautious.

Thanks everyone for the quick response. I'll keep looking. :)

Hugh Letson who had been in the army was the brother of Alexander Letson also ex army and both married English girls. 1901 census has Hugh living with his niece Harriett McMillen nee Letson (my Great grandmother). 1911 census living with 2nd wife East Bread Street Belfast.

The original poster said the Hugh Letson he was looking for died c1880 so the one you found in 1901 & 1911 census records could be a different one.

Hugh Letson born about 1844/46 father's name was Hugh. the family was from around Ballymena area, not sure where. Hugh snr would have been born about 1815-1820. There is a daughter Sarah Letson she married a John Craig. Extract from1851 census has her father as Hugh and mother as Mary Letson, she was born 29/5/1846, Tullygowan, Ahoghill, Toome Co Antrim.
Would this be of the same family that you are looking for? Unsure how she obtained the extract 1851 census, appears to have been issued 30/5/1916 -- possibly for pension reason.

There was an Alexander Letson son of Hugh Letson who died 1901, Hugh Letson who is in 1901 & 1911 was also a son of Hugh from Ballymoney Co Antrim area. There is a Hugh Letson who died about 1875-1880 in workhouse Ballymoney or Ballymena, that could be the Hugh you are looking for.

One of my great grandfathers was a Hugh Letson.
I have a record when on 13/10/1871 Robert Craig, weaver, full age, bachelor, from Straid, son of John Craig, weaver married Agnes Letson, 20 years, spinster, from Tullygarley, daughter of Hugh Letson, weaver. Witnesses were John Letson and Nancy Barr.
Wedding took place in Ballymena.
Would like to explore the connection further if anyone is interested.

Hello JonesTracer
My great great grandfather was Alexander son of Hugh, he was married in England to Harriet Frampton, and his brother Hugh also married in England to Annie Drake (I think I would need to check. Alexander was present at the death of his mother and I think his father also, I have those death records. If you want to send me a personal message please do.
