Hi,
Am trying to trace any info on my great uncle Frank James b.1917-? in cardiff. Brother of Edward, Margaret and Florence. His parents were Alfred 1872-1930 and Edith Rachel 1876-1940. He went to war in WW2 and we have no more info. We think he returned to Cardiff after the war and fell out with his siblings. Any help appreciated.
Regards
Gareth

Hi, thanks for the responses. Those are indeed his parents. His mother Edith rachel was first married to a george pengelly but after he died she married alfred james. The mystery is did he die in wartime? Did he marry and have kids? When did he die? No idea how to find out. We think he moved out of cardiff but unfortunatley he fell out with his sisters and brother (my grandad) and he was never talked about.

If you want to eliminate a possible wartime death, search for a website which specialises in army
history. Someone might recognise the regimental cap. Do the British Legion hold records for ex-members ?

Hi
Am looking for some info on a Frank James born in Cardiff in 1917. Brother to Edward Thomas James 1912, Margaret James and Florence James. My grandfather lost contact with his brother Frank after WWII and we have no more details about him. Have vague information that he married a Beryl Jenkins in Pontypridd in 1955 but not confirmed. Any help appreciated. Did post this back in April but got nowhere. Thanks

Hi,
To get any further with this your best bet is probably to order this Marriage Cert:
Name: Frank James
Spouse Surname: Jenkins
Date of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec 1955
Registration district: Pontypridd
Inferred County: Glamorganshire
Volume Number: 8b
Page Number: 965
That will give you Occupations and Addresses, and both Father's names.
You can then check for any children's Births for this couple.
Because of the timescale, and the very common names, the best route then is probably to check Electoral Rolls.
HTH, Romilly.

The difficulty is that the names are both quite common, - and so it might be hard to pin down which one is yours, - unless you definately know that he married a Jenkins.

Do you know his exact date of birth?
Deaths after 1969 show an exact date of birth as long as the informant knew it of course ;D
Or maybe write to the local paper and see if they'd run a piece about him asking if anyone knows what happened to him.

Hi Gareth,
The fact that you've posted the exact same info as you did 8 years ago(and at various times since then too),does that mean you've got no further with this query?
Did you ever get any of the certs mentioned?
Have you found the family on the 1939 register?

Let us know what you've already looked at and discarded Gareth, - and possibly someone on here will be able to help you get further with this branch of your family.
