Hi there, am looking for the arrival in Australia of Valmai Jean COOPER nee WATSON born in 1909 NEW ZEALAND to Ernest WATSON and Eva LANKOW. Am also looking for her marriage to a COOPER in AUSTRALIA and any electoral roll records. She died in Casino, in 2001. Are there any burial records available? Thanksa:)

I'm afraid I don't have worldwide access to Ancestry, but I see that a Jean Valmai Cooper died in Australia in 2001 - and she is listed in electoral rolls 1943-54 in Parramatta, NSW

Jean Valmai Goodwin died in NZ in 1935 - age 25

So it looks as though we have two Valmai Jeans? One who married & died in NZ - and another, Jean Valmai Lamplough who married & died in Australia?

Yes, looks like it:) It appears I jumped the gun on this, thinking Jean Valmai would be an uncommon name, just looking at nsw bdm seems it was more common than I thought. The Jean Valmai who married in New Zeland is mine.

Hi Jamjar,
Both Douglas and Jean have passed and we have found out that Jean was actually adopted. We are hoping to find out who her parents were but unfortunately keep hitting a brick wall. We do not know if she has siblings. Her adoptive parents were involved in the Seventh Day Adventist. Unfortunately we only know very little about her.

Lamplough was her adopted surname?
Did the SDA keep records of adoptions?

I couldn’t find a marriage or death for her in NSW, but in QLD:

All supposition of course. I think that if you have Jean’s true birthdate, you can check it against the birth above, on NSWBDM. There are others - especially JM - here that know more about these things than I do, and hopefully they will be along to assist soon.
