Title: 'Herzogin Cecilie'

I have a plate depicting this ship and would like it to go to somwone who had an ancestor as a crew member.  The ship survived WW1 and later became the flagship of The famous interwar fleet of Gustaf Erikson.  It won the grain race 8 times and averaged 100 days on the Australia run.

If anyone is interested because they had family members aboard please email me.

I found this post through a google search when I was researching the Herzogin Cecilie. My great grandfather saild aboard this vessel when emigrating to Port Lincoln, South Australia in 1925. His name was John (Yohan) Michael Karlsson and he came from the Åland Islands, Finland and was a boat builder. I don't know a great deal about him, only that he sailed out on 'The Duchess' (as the HC is apparently also known) from France and that he only had one hand due to an accident as a young boy.

What sort of things did you want to know about the ship? We have a museum here that has a lot about the history of windjamers that imported grain and livestock into the area.

The Herzogin Cecilie was wrecked on  the Ham Stone off of  Salcombe in Devon on the 25th April 1936 and thus is close to the hearts of the people of Salcombe
 I know that the local museum has had contact with a descendant of Captain Eriksson and has a display related to the event.
There was also a book produced by Arthur L Clamp with several pictures of her.
There is also a clip on the Pathe News website.
