Hi,
Can anybody please help find a Charles Hazell b 1874 Paris. I know very little on him except his parents were John Hazell and Jane Clements.
I would love to find a marriage for him if possible and any other details on what happened to his family :)

Were his parents John Hazell and Jane Clemens Wilshire (Jane Clements Wilshire?) who married in 1865, possibly?
Someone here is linked:
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,344604.165.html
In late 1871, I suspect as a widow, Jane Clements Wilshire took her three children, including Elizabeth Hazell, to Fontainebleau, France, presumably to work on an estate. I have a pass signed by Lord Granville: 27.10.1871. (This would have been shortly after the Paris commune...) She was there until 1874.
(although it does not appear she was a widow of course, as she appears with her husband and Charles, as well as her older three children, on the 1881 census).

His birth certificate is found in the Consular Birth Indices:
1871-1875 births, Charles Hazell, registered Paris, volume 5 page 700
(these can be obtained from the GRO like normal birth certificates if you wanted).

Never knew that Jorose. Think i will have to get that, thanks :)

;) Looks like Isaac is Issac's father and Bejamin is his grandfather.

Hi there,
I have Charles' birth certificate. I also have a copy of the visa signed by Lord Granville giving safe passage to Jane (my g-g-grandmother) and her three children to go to France in 1871. (My interest in genealogy was sparked by the question of why gramma Hazell spoke French on her deathbed.)
Charles Hazell
b 1 May 1874
father John Hazell, Coachman
mother Jane Clements Wilshire
9, Rue Villejust, Paris
PM me if you'd like a copy of these docs.
The rue Villejust (now rue Paul Valery) was a very posh neighbourhood between the Bois de Boulogne and the Etoile in Paris. Queen Isabella II of Spain in exile lived just down the street.
Unfortunately, there are no censuses of Paris until 1926, so I haven't been able to work out who the family was working for. I'm intrigued, to say the least. Some day, when next I'm in France, I'll look at the tax records and see if I can get some answers that way.

Also, children for Charles and Agnes, using a sneaky work-around to pry info out of 1911 census for free...
Charles (1900)
Edward (1904)
Fredrick (1906)
Agnes (1909)
Nellie J (1910)
