Hello.
I think i have asked before but wonder if i may try again.
Richard Kemp married Christian Stoat (?Scottish) in Northam in 1710 (IGI).
They had a son John in 1715.
I have his subsequent lines but would like to know if there are other children and where did Richard and Christian live. I surmise that they moved to Wiltshire at some point as my lines then come from there.
Kind regards
Julie

Hi Julie,
The only one I can find;
Catherine KIMP, Christened 25 October 1715, Northam, Devon
Parents RICHARD and CHRISTIAN
(Source Familysearch Pilot)
Stoat is not necessarily Scottish. If you check FreeREG there are quite a few BMD of them in the 1600/1700's in Devon. Search Stoat first and then use soundex as well as ther is Stote/Stoate etc.

There were STOAT/STOTE/STOTTEs (etc.) at Northam since at least 1545 when a Wynyfrid STOTE was baptised on 25 July.

This is an old thread - apologies.
Richard Kemp appears to be from my family, but what I don't understand is, the connection to Northam, Devon, 160 miles from his home town of Chilton Foliat / Leverton, on the Wiltshire-Berkshire border? The Kemps lived there for generations before eventually migrating to north London.
Many thanks.

Hello and thank you for your contact.
I've not been doing my family trees for a while now, but always glad for anything new arising.
I am ready to accept that Richard Kemp and wife Christian maybe moved eastwards from Northam to Chilton Foliat - whether at the time in Berkshire or Wiltshire. Maybe they had their eye on London for their children's sake.
You are welcome to my Kemp tree on Ancestry if you like. I'll send you a private message with my email address. I'm Australian, 71 and left Melbourne many years ago and settled in Queensland.
Kind regards,
Julie :)
