Title: Hasting Fitroy Page
Post by: MaggieTag on Sunday 21 November 10 17:46 GMT (UK)
Hi Folks,

I'm looking for any additional information from this census. The person who kindly provided it doesn't have access to the full census record.

I believe that the family emigrated from England an 1930 - would their entry details be available
on line?

Census - US Federal 1930 … New York » KINGS » BROOKLYN BOROUGH » 24-1282 » Sheet 13A

Page, Hasting F (Fitzroy) (b: 1892*)
Household: Page, Agnes M (b: 1903*)
Page, Richard (b: 1927*)
Hobson, Doris (b: 1903*)

Many thanks

Mags

Hi Sandra,

Doing the very best - and you?

Doing this bit of research for a friend. Her aunt was Agnes Margaret Page nee Heyburn known as Peggy. Family history has it that Peggy meet an Alexander Blair - I think a US citizen - on her trip across the Atlantic and ultimately left her husband for him. Agnes and Hastings must have divorced because she went on to marry Alexander and lived I think in Connecticut. So would be really interested to see the ships manifest - if available - to corroborate the story.

Nobody has any idea what happened to her husband and the child. Maybe they stayed in the states or returned to GB?

I just love trying to tie facts to the "legends"!

Thanks for the info.

Mags x

PS what is the meaning of PA and AL on the entries?

On the England & Wales death index, there's a Hastings F. Page who died 1967 at age 75.

It looks like Hastings & his son sailed from NY to Southampton, on the Berengaria arriving 26 Oct. 1932.

Hi Maggie,

Came across this today whilst looking for an on-line photo of Agnes Heyburn Blair.  I have been in touch with a nephew of hers in the US.  He'd answered a message of mine some time ago as he'd come across a bible with information on the ancestry of Hastings Page.  Hastings Fitzroy Page was a relative of mine hence my interest.  I have quite a bit of info on Hastings and of Agnes a lot of which you have already been given or found.

Agnes: 1911 Census with family at 6 Bells Street, Antrim, Ireland: father William, a ship plater, aged 29 born Antrim - mother Honora, aged 28 born Tipperary: Agnes, aged 8 born Antrim: William, aged 6 born Antrim: Sarah, aged 4 born Antrim: Winifred, aged 2 born Antrim

Hastings arrived in England from India in 1920 and married Rose Selena Powell in December 1921.  A son was born to them (un-named but presumably the child Richard/Fitzroy with Hastings and Agnes in the US) 14 December 1926 (I have cert) but I think Rose died in childbirth or not long after as there is a death registered to a Rose S Page, St Martin, London, Vol 1a Page 594.

Am posting this bit now and will add more in another post as it seems not to want me to add more...

Hastings was an organist and was so at the time of the birth of his son.

I've not found a marriage cert for Hastings and Agnes - perhaps they were married in Ireland?  I've also not found a record of a divorce although Agnes' naturalisation papers dated 22 August 1940 say she divorced 24 (?) March 1934.  I have a copy of these and also a copy of her Obituary which I could send you if you'd like to give me your email address.  Let me know....

I don't know what happened to Hastings or his son once they returned to the UK - I've been concentrating on other areas of my tree.  I suppose I need to order the marriage certificate Page/Kemp and also the possible/probably death cert.

Regards
Linda

hi there.  I believe Richard Page is my father.  I have a certificate where Hasting Fitzroy Page is listed as his father.  My dad was born around 1927 and was abandoned by his father.  His mother died in childbirth.  He was raised by a family in London UK.
