Hi,
I was trying to contact 'Suffolk*Sue' in regard of the Farrington's of Cambridge and Hertfordshire.
If anyone could let her know, I would be very grateful.
Happy New Year.

Hallo Zish
Is there anything I can help you with?
:D
-
Hi, Thank y ou for your quick reply.
My name is Tony Farrington and I was reading the emails between you and someone in Australia, the name I do not have to hand at present.
My enquiry was that my Farrington's were in Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire in the mid 1800's, I know tha my Gt Gt Grandfather Henry Thomas Farrington came to London from Hoddesdon, his family were from Buntingford, Royston Ware, Herts etc, there was another branch went to Australia, this I think was another Henry Thomas, the names do repeat making me think that considering the area and the name, that they would be connected, they were from Herts, I think there is a connection with the Cambridge Farringtons, Orwell, Barnwell and Thriplow.
If you have any thoughts on this, I will let you have names, dates and places.
Thank you again for replying.
All the very best and Happy New Year.
Tony Farrington - Zish.

It would be best to put names and dates(so long as they are not living persons) and then we could see what Rootchatters can come up with.
-
Thank you for getting back again.
I will go through my names, places and dates and submit them here in the next couple of days.
I hope you have a happy healthy New Year.
All the best
Zish.

Hi Suffolk Sue and all.
My Farrington's in breif are as follows;
My father Harry George Kitchener Farrington
His father was Henry Thomas Farrington born Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire 1888, he married my grandmother Annie Matilda Hollick in Fulham, London 1912, and Daisy Clayton, in West Ham, London in 1923. His siblings were;
Ethel (B) 1884, Mary (B) 1887, Albert John (B) 1889, Kate, (B) 1891, these were all born in Hoddedon except Mary, she was born in Lambeth, London.
Henry Thoms's father was Henry Farrington, born Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire, 1853, he married Catherine Anne Whitcomb in Shoreditch, London 1877. she was born on Alderney.
The above is what I know for sure, if this rings any bells with anyone, that would be great.
Regards.
Zish.

Yes, I have Day, Farrington and Hart in my trees, see the list at the bottom of this posting. All the Cambridgeshire names I have interconnect except for the Stimpsons who are on my father's side of the family, and originated in the Wisbech area. All the others are from the Bottisham/Lode area, very near to Barnwell. Some of my relatives went to Australia too, i.e. James Ayres my great uncle who migrated in 1903.

Redroger
What are your Day / Farrington names etc...
Jamison
-
Elizabeth Day married Holmes Cornwell at Swaffham Bulbeck in 1786, and John Farrington senior, no further info; his son also John Farrington married Sarah Ann Brignell at St. Pauls Cambridge in 1870. I have her born in 1858, which would give an age of 12 at marriage, early, but in that era definitely possible and legal.
-
Mine are
William DAY and Elizabeth FARRINGTON m. 24 Feb. 1834 St Andrew the less Cambridge and went to Australia in 1840/41
Both died in Hay NSW.
-
Hi Redroger, do any of your farrington's relate to any names or dates I have submitted?
Cheers
Zish.

Hi Redroger, do any of the names, dates or placed relate to any of your Farrington's?
Thank you. Zish.

Only date I have for Elizabeth Day is her marriage art Swaffham Bulbeck 11th July 1786. As her husband Holmes Cornwell was born in 1764 I would imagine, but have no further data, that she was in her early to mid 20s, and probably came from that village if she followed tradition and married in the bride's home parish. I have no information on John Farrington other than that he was the father of the John who married Sarah Ann Brignell on 4th Sept 1870 in St. Pauls Cambridge. From the census he seems to have been born in 1844, place as yet uncertain.
