I posted this photograph a bit earlier in another thread. I thought I would follow a suggestion on that thread and post it here as well to see if anyone fancies the challenge of restoring this image of my GGG-Grandfather Thomas Rhodes.

Just a 5 minute light improvement. Incidentally, which part of Cheshire is your Tomlinson interest?

Hi Ray, thanks very much for doing that! He looks much clearer!
My Tomlinsons were from South Cheshire and moved into North Staffordshire when my Great-Grandfather was born. I've traced them back to my GGG-Grandfather Charles Tomlinson who was born about 1814 in Crewe according to the censuses. He lived around the Haslington/Wheelock area.

Hi Zoe
Mine haven't moved very far from what is now the Hazel Grove area since at least the late 1700's. My current problem is tracing the birth/baptism of my GGG Grandfather William b.circa 1797 in Norbury. Until I find him, I can't go back any further.
Cheers
Ray (Tomlinson)

Thank you all for your responses! The work you've all done is really excellent, I love being able to see his face more clearly. I can see such a resemblance to my Grandmother's brothers it's quite uncanny.
Thank you all again!
