George Scarborough is listed at the Grammar School in Taplow, along with a large number of other boys.

Eton is the rural sanitary district, but the school was in Taplow.  Not sure of its exact location at the moment.

Hi,
I have just seen your post about the Grammer School in Taplow. The School was located on the corner of Boundary Road and Station Road. It was knocked down in the 1970's and some flats were built. It was a large white building and had Georgian style windows. I grew up in Taplow and lived at the Station House. I used to walk past this school every day as a small child on my way to Taplow Infants school. I only ever remember it being an empty building. I think it must have closed before I started school in 1963. I also think it was a boarding School. It may say that it is the rural sanitary district of Eton but it is about 8-10 miles from Eton its self.
I hope this is of interest to you . If you would like any more info on the area please contact me.

Thank you both very much for the information.  Do you happen to know if it was a boarding school or orphanage perhaps.

Hi,
It must have been a boarding school because of the census being taken. They would only be listed on a census if they were either staying in or living in the building on census night. I am sure it was a school not an orphanage. Have you tried looking at the National Archives records on Grammar Schools.

I hope that i am replying to the person who is looking for her/his grandfather,George Henry Scarborough as he is my great grandfather. His parents were George Heaton Scarborough and jane Hathorn. There daughter, my nan was Ida Scarborough before she married my grandad. I have just been looking at searching for some records as I know that he was a policeman in the City (LONDON), Parliament. and so was his father before him, going back to the Bow street runners. I have a great interest as I am also a Police Officer.

Unfortunitly I only know that he was born in CRIPPLEGATE LONDON. 13/07/1968

He must have returned to YORKSHIRE as this is where my nan was born, and then returned back to London when my nan was 8.

Im afraid this is the best of my knowledge.

just realised obviously not 1968 but 1868

it only makes me enquistive as to who you are?  :)

hope you get this.

Hello

I have been researching my late fathers history and believe he was a schoolmaster at Taplow grammer school in 1945. I was wondering if you might have known him during your stay there, his name was Reginald Emms.

Best regards
