These places are on a map which I saw in a book in Harwarden RO. It is Kinnerton Village Vol.1. I am not sure of the date of the map.
It shows Military Farm on Bramley Lane where Brad Brook crosses and can be seen in it's present form as Willow Tree Farm on the google map, easily found due to a tennis court.
Barracks Lane was ( and maybe still is) off Kinnerton Lane where Bramley Hall Farm now.
My interest is that my ggg grandmother Ellen Parry (nee Youd/e/es) may have been the daughter of a William Youde who was a soldier in West Kirby Cheshire in 1778 when Ellen was born.
After her birth the family is not in that area so may have been moved by the army to some sort of military place and possibly those above.
My Parry family had farms along Bramley lane so could have been neighbours to the Youds.
This is all conjecture at present and I am trying to get some facts. Any suggestions very welcome of course. Humphpaul

Hello Humphpaul,
I used to live close to Kinnerton and I thought that there were Roman military connections to this place. I might be wrong but I think the places you have mentioned relate to the Roman times and not for any recent military base there.

Thanks Jo Harding. The Roman connection does sound the more likely now you mention it, and sadly I haven't got my family history quite that far back. Yet. Watch this space.

Hello Humphpaul, spoke to my Uncle who grew up and lived on Bramley lane in the 1920/30's and he said there was definitely no army barracks in the second world war or the lead up to it around that area, there was an anti aircraft gun battery just off from the train station in Kinnerton. He said he never heard any stories about an old army barracks from before then but that's not to say there wouldn't be, I'd be more inclined to agree with Jo regarding the roman camp theory as there was a settlement in Wrexham and a mining/smelting camp for them in the Ffrith all within five miles of each other, good luck with your search.

Many thanks to all who have helped me with this query and for all the local info.
It would have been a nice explanation for how Ellen Youd ended up in H.K.
Back to the drawing board. Cheers Humphpaul

You don`t say who Ellen Youd married only that she became a Parry.
Could it have been Richard Parry, if so this might be of interest to you.

Dear Wilcoxon. Yes, brilliant. this looks like a Eureka moment. Richard Parry married Ellen Youd 12/10/1795 in Doddleston.
Then in 1799 they had William who was my g.g. grandad who married Anne and they had 6 children in Hope parish. I do not have Anne's maiden name but am still hopeful.
I had searched the Chester wills for Parry but not Youd - silly me. I will now have a better look.
I don't know why I could not find Ellen Youds baptism anywhere around the area but will redo it all with her father's name.
I had put this query on the Wills - Youde family thread and will now add your info to that. A million thanks for your help. Humphpaul ( and to all who have put in info.

Further to the origin of this name incase anyone is still interested:-
I was in Harwarden RO this week and looked in The Journal of Kinnerton Village vol. 1 by Kinnerton History Group. Page 37 reads:-
"There leading up to the hamlet of water Green is Barracks Lane. The name adopted many years ago after the Leeswood Colliery dispute spread to Mold and turned into a full scale riot. The police were forced to station reinforcements at the hamlet".

Hi,
I have been googling a bit of history of Higher Kinnerton. Mainly if there were any army barracks in the area. Are you able to help answer my question?
Thanks
