I am looking for any information regarding Helena Rubenstein when she lived in Brisbane for a very short period.Does anyone know where she lived.Found some info that said she was in Brisbane for 2years and worked as a Nanny.Does anyone know if this is right,who she worked for any information would be greatful... ;)

Don't know about Brisbane. She arrived in 1894 from Poland and lived in Coleraine in West Victoria. Before working as a waitress she was a governess to the sons of Steven Fairburn at Meltham which is near Geelong.

Thanks for your info,the reason i am searching was my dad told me i was named after her and also dads family history comes from polish Jews so it could have been just the fact she had similar background but some info i got she lived in Brissy for a very short period also as a nanny.I will still keep looking .CHEERS. ;)

I recall reading a quite detailed account of Helena Rubinstein in Australia in the newspaper several years ago. My recollection is that she lived somewhere near Colac. but I don't recall now.

The is a huge amount of information on the internet about Chaja (Helena) RUBINSTEIN so it's possible that your Helena RUBENSTEIN from Brisbane is a totally different person :D
