Title: St Stephen's church Walworth
Post by: oscardaphers on Tuesday 11 January 11 18:09 GMT (UK)
Hi All
I was wondering if somebody can point me in the right direction for a photo of this church. My hubby's grandparents were married there in 1926 and as there seems to be no wedding photos left I thought it would be nice to add a picture of the church to the family tree.
I have 'Googled' the church and apparently it was demolished in the 1960's :(

Thank you
Wendy

Thank you Maryam for the link. I have downloaded it and put it on my tree.

If there are any more out there I will be really grateful.

Thank you
Wendy :)

Hi Wendy
As you posted your request in 2011 I expect that you've already found this photo of the church with a better resolution than the one that was originally mentioned. But just in case: http://britisharchitects.weebly.com/jarvis-henry.html
Cheers, Caroline

Thank you Caroline for the link.
Yes it is a great photo as the previous one had been cropped slightly so I will update my tree.
Also on the link is a picture of St John The Evangelist Church Walworth, from memory I am pretty sure that some of my husbands other Walworth relatives married and had baptisms there.
It is so lovely when the places we have in the distant past can be brought to life with a photo.
Thanks once again
Wendy

Hi Wendy
I was looking at your family names and see that many of them are from Hampshire. Strangely, I was also looking for a photo of St.Stephen's to illustrate an article about a couple from Hampshire who also got married there even though they both lived in Andover. I haven't solved that one, yet.
I agree, it's very satisfying when you find that photo.
Good luck with your research.
Caroline
