Hi All,
I was just wondering if anyone can help me please.
I am looking for my 3x Great Grandmother, Sophia Howsin and her parents, siblings etc. From information I have she was born around 1818 in Emberton Buckinghamshire. She married Edward Law 1843 in Northampton.
If anyone has the parish records for Emberton and can have a look for me I would be most grateful, thank you,
Regards,
Mary

Hi Mary cannot find a baptism, but here is her marriage:-
Edward Law to Sophia Howsin 17th October 1843 Weston-Favell, Northants.
Grooms Father John Law
Brides Father William Howsin
This is taken from the IGI Pilot Search.
Also on the 1841 Census there is a Sophia Howson aged 21 ( age subject to 1841 variance) with what looks like a daughter Maria aged 7 both not born in County residing in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire Census Ref HO107/438/ 21/34/ 28
This 1841 Census will require further investigation, but seeing that her father was a William, I wonder if this is her family:-
William Howson 40 occ Ag Lab
Mary Ann 40
John 19
Robert 15
William 12
Elizabeth 8
Henry Rolls 9
Elizabeth Rolls 9
Residing at Petsoe End, Emberton, Buckinghamshire.
Census Ref HO107/57/ 1/2/ 11

Hi again Mary, even if these are not your Howsins/Howsons they must be relatives! This is the 1851 census for them:-
William Howson 53 b Emberton
Mary A 53 b Foskett or Fosdyke (in the 1861 census ) Somerset
George 9 b Emberton
Next door are:-
Mary Ann Howson Married 22 b Olney Bucks
William 21 Lodger Single b Emberton
Henry Rolls 18 Lodger Single b Emberton
Both on census ref HO107/1723/666/11
I just wonder what the link is with the Rolls family?

Hi,
Thank you, the plot thickens, haha. I appreciate you taking the time to find this information for me.
I have found a marriage in 1840 at Newport Pagnell - William Howson to Mary Ann Rolls. Do you think that the people in the 1851 census you mention could be the ones I found the marriage for?
I will investigate a little further tomorrow, when I'm awake
Thanks again,
Mary :)

Hi
My 3 x great grandmother Susan Howson was born in Emberton in 1813 (Bp. 23 Aug), her parents were Joseph (b.1770) & Mary (nee Paine). I know Susan had a sister called Mary (b. 1812). I wonder if there is any connection to your Howson family?
Kind regards, Jenny
