What is the source for her birthplace & age?
Give us a reference if it is a census.
I've had a quick look at Kensington Geohegan (& fairly close names) but do not get a match.

I am still looking for my great grandmother who was born on Guernsey the births department on Guernsey said that there is no trace and maybe she was born into a milatary family stationed on Guernsey in 1854 and was baptised by an army chaplin I have tried going down this path without success can anyone offer any advice on which way to go as everything comes back to her being born on Guernsey

Find My Past has births and baptisms British armed forces 1761-2005- it's a pay site and terms & conditions don't allow lookup requests to be posted on Rootschat but you can search the indexes without paying.

Have you considered that father John might have been in the Forces?
Possibly Royal Artillery, based at Fort George?
It might also be a good idea to contact the Channel Islands Family History Society.
I did that for part of my family, who were briefly in Jersey.
You will have to pay for the research, but it might be worthwhile?

It doesn't seem as though this is going to straightforward from our searches to date so it would be essential to get that birth certificate. There may by no help there at all but you need to do it just in case.
I've done more searching today with no results.
I did suggest that dad may have been in the army on the other thread and if that is so they may have returned to Ireland. I can't see anything in England. There is a John with a family in Devon (think he was a Sgt Major) but there is no Elizabeth and his children are slightly younger than her.
KGarrard -if you are searching - I think a witness to the marriage was a Margaret Geogheghan - hope that's right.

thankyou everyone.
