Title: two marriages?
Post by: bozzwell on Tuesday 25 January 11 21:50 GMT (UK)
George Frederick Hilton B 1874 St Pancras. His father is named as George Thomas Eastwood. I'm curious as to the different surnames and wonder if George Frederick Hilton was from a previous marriage. His mother's maiden surname name was Eliza Head.
Thankyou.

I can't see a George Frederick Hilton born in Pancras in 1874  ???

Ae you taking this info from the childs birth cert? If so you do realise that the surname of the child is never given It is presumed to be the same as the mothers, which would normally say Eliza Eastwood formerly Head.

You might find this useful http://home.clara.net/dixons/Certificates/births.htm

This appears to be the parents marriage that you've quoted...

Marriages Sep 1869

Eastwood  George Thomas   ref  Mile End  1c 923
Head  Eliza  ref   Mile End  1c 923

Added- see above-this has now proved to be incorrect

However, for the 4 entries for 1c 923 George Thomas Eastwood married Sarah Britain on 10 Aug 1869 and Frederick Peters married Eliza Head on 27 July 1869. Both marriages at St Paul, Bow Common.
