Does anyone know what became of Bob McCutcheon's antiquarian bookstore in Stirling? My understanding is that he died in 2002. I am hoping to locate a collection he once possessed.

Hi pkincaid,
If you google Bob McCutcheon you will find him.
cheers,
Billy.

I'm afraid there are limits to Google. I had searched him before my post and learned that he died in 2002. My goal is to locate a collection he once possessed.

Hi pkincaid,
Bob and I were pals at the High School of Stirling in the 1950s when we both lived in Bannockburn.
Over the years I used to visit him in the wee 2nd hand book shop he had in Spittal Street, but I was not living in the Stirling area when he died in 2002. A few years ago I found his widow operating in a shop at the corner of Bank St and Baker St. If my memory serves me correctly, this shop used to be White's Stores (or was next door to it).

I sent a private message to Bob's grand daughter (daniellemc89). Thanks!

Bob was one of the great characters of the Scottish secondhand book trade. McGarry in Paisley was another. The business sadly is in a decline, a lot of old haunts gone! Skoosh.

Hi I am Bob's daughter. Unfortunately the information DDJ has supplied is incorrect. My mum and dad had the shop in Spittsl Street then moved to Baker Street. They retired around 2000 due to my dad's ill health and neither worked again. May I enquire as to what collection you are looking for unfortunately my niece did not pass on any information to my knowledge. My dad did pass in 2002 and all his collections remain with the family.
