Hello,
I live in Bradford and over the coming days am starting a project to photograph and transcribe all headstones in my local cemeteries, and churchyards and set up a website for them.
I will be starting with St Matthews Churchyard, Bankfoot, but am more than happy to offer a photo and transcription service for any cemetary or churchyard in Bradford in the meantime.
Kindest Regards
Colleen

The Honley link doesn't work

Neither does the Eccleshall link..

yeah! i found this on day 2 of my family search.
Totally amazing resource. why can't all councils do that?
although still births are not on there so i am venturing west in the next week or so to view those records!
-
This is an incredible resource. I've found three of my GG Grandparents in the Old Cemetry at Castleford. The fact that it includes grave numbers is a huge bonus. As I'm only a few miles away I'm going to pop over and see what condition the graves are in. Well done WMDC (that's one thing at least!).
-
i found my grandfathers siblings who died before he was born and were never mentioned as he was growing up!
We're going to visit the grave soon!!!
-
I've only just found this thread - thanks Chairlady for posting it. Brilliant site - I've now located some of my elusive rellies. Well done Wakefield.

Hi I am looking for several people
John Naylor b 1781 d 1851
Ellen Naylor b1786 d 1846
John Naylor b1821 d1886
Ann Naylor b1821 d1879
Robert Naylor b 1853 d 1920

Sue

I contacted Kirklees Council, Bereavement Services re Heckmondwike and Batley cemeteries and the searches they did for me were free of charge. They gave an excellent service. However, this was in 2004, so things may have changed! Their telephone number then was 01484 234060.

I see from your list of surnames that you are searching for Richards in Leic. and yorkshire. My 2 GGrandfather was a Richards and was huntsman in Badsworth. I believe he came from Leics. Somewhere around Staunton harold. Ring any bells?

WELCOME TO THE SHEFFIELD GENERAL CEMETERY

http://www.cemeteries.org.uk
I also found the same website in the last couple of days.
Can I make a suggestion that may save a wee bit of money??.........Especially if you think you may have hordes of buried relatives in the Barnsley are cemeteries!!
After you have bought your tokens, look near the top of the page & click on Search Burials (it's between Home & Forum).
Then click on 'Cemetery'........pick the "all Barnsley Cemeteries" option.
Type in the "surname" you are looking for, but don't type in "First name".
I found that I got 4 pages of results with approx 10-12 hits on each page.
I would suggest that you carefully check each hit on the first page in the order that they are listed. Then move onto page 2, check those hits. Move to page 3 & check etc etc.
As soon as you move from one page to another, your tokens are reduced.
So for the price of one token you could get many names and different Barnsley cemeteries.
So much more cost effective that putting in a specific name, surname & cemetery for each person that you may be looking for!!
I'm sure that we all like to save a penny or two in these credit crunch times!!
Oh another thought....perhaps if anyone has any tokens left.........and they think they won't use them up themselves, they could offer to do some searches for other people wishing to discover if their forbears are in the Barnsley Cemeteries!!
You know what they say....."What goes around, comes around!!"
:D
Happy discovering to you all!!

Undercliffe Cemetery Plan
Believed to have been compiled by a member of BFHS
If you go to
http://www.bing.com/maps/#
put Undercliffe cemetery into the search box. Select Birds eye view. Navigate to the middle of the cemetery and press F11. Get rid of the info pannel.
Now you can use the section plan to find out if the area where your ancestors are buried has been cleared
-
I have made a transcript of the new burial ground register.
1884 onwards.
if you would like a lookup, post a message on the lookup request board,
I can also supply an image of the record.

If you write to the churchwarden at the above church for Memorials or a grave photo and rough location in the grave in the graveyard or contact the Huddersfield Library for writen Memorials as the memorials are surname indexed and soon looked up.
Donations to St Martin's Church always Welcome
Do not contact me.

My other half was just looking at the website for Darfield All Saints parish church (where he was christened) and saw that they have fairly extensive registers for both 'burials' and 'graves' - they seem to share some info.
I thought someone on here might find this of use so here's a link:

Swinton People Tree
http://c.mollekin.net/portal/swintonpeopletree
This website contains name and date transcriptions of all legible headstones within the Churchyard of Saint Margarets’ in Swinton, South Yorkshire (formerly Yorkshire West Riding). Each headstone transcription is also linked to a photo.
Please note that this website does not contain a record of all burials which have taken place in Saint Margarets’, Swinton - it is only a record of legible headstones still in tact as of 2008/2009 (over 3000).

Hope this is the correct place to put this.
I have home transcribed the burial register for Denholme Wesleyan. (It's on Ancestry, but if your not a member you can't see it)
I've transcribed the best I can, and have first name / Last name / age / burial date.
I have also put it on a spreadsheet map too (this works as I found my ancestor) and it's not a large site.
This is for the burial ground off the main road and Foster Park Road (where divine soaps is on Google maps)
If you want me to check can you pm me as I don't always check the boards
