Title: Auto Sharpen
Post by: cccarson on Saturday 12 March 11 15:45 GMT (UK)
I've read over the photo scanning tutorials and several tips, but haven't located something I believe would benefit requesters for restoration.

If your scanner has an auto sharpen setting on it, this should be turned OFF when scanning a damaged photo, otherwise the scanner will focus on sharpening (and thus worsening) the scratches, tears, etc in a photo.

We can all sharpen a photo after it's been restored, but it makes for a loss of detail to remove all these artificially enhanced nicks and dings caused by auto sharpening scanners.

Just something for a future tutorial maybe...
