Has anyone any info regarding Ardglassie area of Rathen e.g what size of area it covered when it was in the hands of the Fraser family. :)

There is a piece in the Aberdeen Journal of the 11th of October 1848 concerning the letting of Ardglassie Farm. You can see from the snip it is upwards of 40 acres. This is taken from a larger notice which refers to a number of farms on the estate of Philorth belonging to Lord Saltoun.
The Rev. William Cock (transcribed Cook on Freecen) can be found living here in 1841 although there is no mention of Ardglassie - the property is describes as the manse although it does have three farm servants in tow....

It looks like a single farm rather than an 'area' and it certainly isn't a village or even a hamlet. See map at http://www.geograph.org.uk/gridref/NK0161 - though so far no-one has photographed the farm itself.

It would appear that Ardglassie has somewhat shrunk over time. On the older map of 1852 Ardglassie looks like a large area adjacent to the Kirktown (Rathen on the other map). By 1872 'Gallows Hill' looks to have replaced the area previously called Ardglassie and the only mention is of a Hill of Ardglessie which can be seen in the top right hand corner of the newer map.

Edit: If you want a real treat zoom in to find it on this map ca. 1583
