Hi,

A birth certificate for one of the children or, if you know roughly where and when Arthur and Mary married, a copy of the marriage certificate.

This looks like Frank's birth registration:

Frank Poulter   MarQ1901   Farnham   2a   115        (from FreeBMD)

Hi,

English marriage certificates only show the name and occupation of the fathers.

If you are lucky you sometimes find that the witnesses were related to the bride or groom, but only if you recognise the names as no relationship is shown.

You are not alone!

I have ladies in my tree who are "flexible" about their age and some who like to switch their names around..........and some who do both.     ::)

thanks I had looked at them as possible parents but what put me off was  the counties
In the 81 91 &01 census he is down as Reading Berks as birth place
in searchas them as parents  it has come as Stratfield Saye Hampshire
but looking at map there has obviously been boundary changes over the years as Stratfield Saye Hampshire and Beechhill Berks are neighbouring villages close to Reading
I had come across his sister Fanny staying with married sister Sarah in 1881 census
Thanks for your help
