Title: Karnon family
Post by: grubheam on Wednesday 08 June 11 13:43 BST (UK)
Hello Ireland!

This is my first post on Ireland board -

I am trying to find 1841 census of Ireland if any. The Karnon (hopefully right spelling) family - three people I believe.

James born in 1821 Ireland
wife Rebecca born in 1811 in Fermanagh
son Thomas born in 1844 in Fermanagh

On 1851 census the family lived in Sculcoates, Yorkshire, England with more children born in Hull, Yorkshire. The 1851 shows that James, Rebecca and Thomas were all from Ireland.

PLease can you help?
Grub

Unfortunately the 1841 census doesn't survive for Co. Fermanagh.

The surname Karnon doesn’t appear at all in the 1901 Irish census, or in the statutory records of births, deaths & marriages anywhere in Ireland, so I’d suggest that either the transcription is wrong or the family changed their name (or the spelling of it) when they settled in England.

Sorry to bump up such an old thread, but I was looking around for information on the Karnon surname and found this thread. A John Edward H Karnon, born 1875 in Hull, married my second cousin four times removed Gertrude Lavinia Marshall. They had three children - Ethel, John and James.

Stephen :)
