Title: Elizabeth MATTHEWS-Liverpool circ 1911/17
Post by: Kimberley on Tuesday 15 June 04 04:23 BST (UK)
Seeking a Lookup of Mrs Elizabeth Matthews who occupied 47 Bryanston Road,St Michaels,Liverpool circa 1911 to 1917.
Marriage details and maiden name required - to establish a family link.
John Arthur Roberts gave the above address in 1913 when joining Royal Navy.He served on submarines and was drowned aboard submarine K13 on 29 January 1917.K13 sank in Gairloch,Scotland  on tests during WW1.
John A Roberts was born in December 1888 in Australia. His parents immigrated to Australia in 1877.
I am trying to establish if Mrs Elizabeth MATTHEWS was related to John Arthur Roberts' father - George ROBERTS or mother Sarah Ann HARRISON? or HENRY?
Was Mrs MATTHEWS formerly a ROBERTS or HARRISON ??? or maybe a HENRY !

The link above will take you to the 1901 census site. If you click on "address search" on the lefthand side and enter "bryanston" and "liverpool" on the search form then you will get a list of houses on Bryanston Road. So you can find no.47.To look at the image and see who was living there in 1901 you will have to buy credits for a minimum of 5 pounds but this would allow you to look at other entries too.
There are a couple of entries for John Roberts in the Toxteth bit of Liverpool so if you know his age in 1901 (if he was born by then) you might find him. Course he may not have been in Toxteth.
Looking at a map I see that I lived a couple of streets away from Bryanston Rd for 2 years when I was a student at Liverpool Uni. Don't remember seeing the place though so that is no help at all! ;D

Hi Kimberley

In the 1891 census there are 8 Elizabeth Mathews/Matthews in Toxteth but non at the correct address.
We do have a researcher who may be able to find more info in 1917 Liverpool electoal rolls for that address. I will give her a try.

sorry can't help at the moment

Hi Kimberley,
I've been looking for your Elizabeth Matthews,
She was living at number 45 Bryanston Road before she moved to nymber 47 in1909, nothing unusual in this, people often moved next door or "over the road" I worked backwards until 1905 and she was in number 45 then, there's no one else listed as living with her, even in 1913.

I checked through the marriages and found one that could possibly be her, but it's bit of a long shot.

It's an Elizabeth Harrison married to a Robert Matthews in 1887, let me know if you think this one could be yours.
Regards,
Viv ::)
