hi am looking for help in my siddoway tree my husbands grandfathersw came to australia his name was alfred harold siddoway was married to marion wood I beleive he came from durham but cannot find his family I think his father was william siddoway

SIDDOWAY William of 13 Clara Street Winlaton County Durham. Died 28th January 1936. Probate Newcastle - upon - Tyne 18th February 1936 to Joseph Edward SIDDOWAY and Edmund SIDDOWAY Grocer's Assistants. Effects 376Pound 15s 5d.
Most likely to be Alfred's father.
Alfred's brother Joseph Edward SIDDOWAY served in WW1 starting in the Northumberland Fusilliers and ending up in the Labour Corps. Brother Edmund was with the Royal Garrison Artillery.

Think that must be the right chap because a few years later in 1921, he gives his full name as Alfred Harold Siddoway; 3 rd Engineer on the Clan MacIndoe which sailed from Glasgow to New York

As stated before... Alfred's parents appear to be William and Mary Jane SIDDOWAY. Mary Jane most likely was Mary Jane AMBLER.
The only way to be really sure is to get a copy of Alfred's birth certificate from the UK which should tell you who his parent's were including mother's maiden name. You can order online via the GRO at
www.gro.gov.uk
FreeBMD shows this as a possible birth for Alfred...
