While searching for information about an ancestor with a happily unusual middle name I came across

On pages 11-13 there is a list of members of the guild of Maltmen, interesting because membership seems to have been handed down from father to son and the relationships are all listed.  I found 5 generations of my ancestors, with such details as 'XXX entered 13th November 1788 as eldest son of YYY who entered as eldest son of ZZZ' and so on.

Worth a look to see if your Glasgow surname is there :)
