Title: McComb, McCombs--Keady, Armagh to Troy, NY?
Post by: TPM123 on Friday 19 August 11 18:40 BST (UK)
Greetings--seeking family of Samuel McComb b. about 1805 in Co.Armagh, Parish of Keady. He and brother William McComb b. about 1807 settled in Troy, NY and were brick masons by trade. Samuel (spouse, Ann) had many children in Troy, including James McCombs born 1847 (my g-g-grandfather).  Hoping to find exact location of where our McCombs family lived in Co. Armagh, Parish of Keady. Possibly Newry or MarketHill? Anyone out there with info on Samuel or William McCombs b early 1800s and moved to Troy, NY please let me know! Brick wall for over a decade. Many thanks, Tammi

There is a death of a Robert William McComb in 1905 aged 23 worked for the railway, could this be your Robert?

Don't think this chap had any children, seems to be married to Rachal Taylor in 1902 but I don't see any McComb Taylor births on a quick search.

Thank you so much for this !!! I found Robert living with his aunts but can find his parents or where he or they are buried my grandmother is buried with her mother and her Taylor family in the parish of Kilmore but unsure wher Roberts and his family buried . I was told my grand mothers father died when she was a child and that her mother remarried later to an Isaac Hayes and they lived on her farm in drumnasoo. Unfortunately my uncles are all gone and so is my father so I have no way of finding this out

That you so much for this I heard that Issac had changed his will in favour of someone else and that he had nothing only what my great grandmother had left him and it was to be left to my grandmother if he died after her . She never got it or the farm and don't know who got it

Have a go at searching yourself and give us a shout if you get stuck. You will probably need to move to the Northern Ireland site eventually. PRONI

If you get a copy of the will, it will tell you who the beneficiaries were. If you note the various dates, you'll see that Rachel died 10 days before Isaac's first probate grant was approved. That may be part of the explanation as to why she never inherited the farm.

My family McComb also comes from this area. I believe my gr gr gr grandfather was David McComb(e) and he had a son called William John McComb.

I can find parish records to show WJ attended Ballylane Reformed Presbyterian Church but cant find any information on David.

Unfortunately there is a few David Mccomb in the area and all seem to call their children William, James, Robert, Samuel!! Making it almost impossible to locate which one belongs to me.

I believe a child of WJ - called William moved to American in 1904 or 1907.
