If someone you don't know phones you and
- offers help removing a computer virus
- or help in checking your computer security, or ...
- etc., etc.
Do not listen - Hang up on them - this is a scam
In particular, please note: If the caller says he is from Microsoft, or a MS authorised company
MicroSoft will publish reports on the Internet or in computor journals about known computer problems, but ...
they will not phone you personally !
-
Similarly,
If you receive e-mails saying
- there is a problem with your bank account, or
- there is a problem with your credit card, or
- asking you to confirm your bank details, or ...
- etc., etc.
Do not reply - DELETE THEM IMMEDIATELY - this is a scam
No reputable bank will send you e-mails asking you for this information !
