Have you tried searching family on Scotlands people ???
-
Hi :)
This looks like their marriage on Scotlands People ( www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk ) :
1882, Tobermory - Peter McIntyre and Christina McPhail
Full certificate can be viewed online - pay to view but very reasonable.
Possible birth for Christina (IGI extracted)
Chirsty McPhail 12 Jan 1860, Tobermory. Parents - Angus* McPhail and Chirsty McLean
gnu
* I see that Peter and Christina had a son, Angus, in 1897 according to your tree

Could be Christina ~
Passenger Lists leaving UK:
Dept 27 March 1909 on board the Grampian Glasgow to Halifax:
Christina McIntyre, domestic serv, 17. Bound for Ottawa
Arrival on 5 April 1909, down as Dairymaid on that listing!
Also a family headed by a Peter Mcintyre, aged 40 but don't think they're yours

Thanks to all for the research and advice!! I will definently check into the McPhail/Mclean connection..that is a major starting point for me and way more than i have been able to find by myself!! I sure hope this turns out to be my grandmas family...she is my brickwall for sure!! Thanks again,Jodi

Hello-I to have McIntyre roots. county Bute was also a home to many McIntyres, especially on the Isle of Arran. I do know the museum on Arran has a McIntyre Bible. Grace is a great help and maybe able to assist.

Marc, thanks for the suggestion!! This family(my ggrandmother) is my huge "brick wall"...im beginning to think they ran out of surnames and just gave every family the M(a)cIntyre name!!! :PJodi..

Argyll was the home of many McIntyres too which is where my gr gr grandfather was born. That said, something you may or may not know, it was quite common for female children to take on a mothers maiden name as part of their name. As an example, I have a Janet Taylor McIntyre. Janet Taylor was my gr gr grandmother so the name carries down. Her Husband John, was born in Inverary,Argyllshire in 1828. His parents were James and Catherine(Nee Currie). As to the spelling Mac or Mc-again a choice. my dads brothers spell it Mc, but due to the Canadian military, dad was given no choice on the spelling. Mac. I do know there are connections, but is a road I have not explored yet. My gr grandfather is buried in Auchencairn. sned me a PM if you like with an email, and I can send you more info if you want.

Hi flyderaght,
Your Janet Taylor McIntyre caught my eye, as I have an Angus Taylor McIntyre on my tree, born in Rothesay 1874, his father was born over the water near Skipness. He was Malcom McIntyre born to Angus McIntyre & Katrin Taylor. I have not been able to find any of Malcoms siblings and wondering if there is a connection to yours.

The janet taylor in my tree is my gr gr grandmother. Her parents were William Taylor and Margaret Baird. Janet was born 15 Nov. 1828 in Kilmodan, Argyllshire. No other info on the parents. She married John McIntyre Jan. 20th, 1854. She died on 24 aug. 1884 on the Holy isle. I saw you have family in Bute which were McIntyres. Any on Arran. If so, I would assume there is a connection there.
There is the family bible that is held by the museum on arran if your over that way.

My brick wall.
Hi Marc, I have Angus McIntyre b. 1820 and Dugal McIntyre b. 1822 Skipness. I don't know where they went to after they left Kintyre Peninsula or if they just moved away from Skipness.
Probably no connection, but thank you for replying.
Cheers

right thread this time :) is it possible James was a brother to Angus/s father? no evidence, but you never know.

Hi Marc,
Could Angus and James have been siblings?? According to the death of Angus he was 73 when he died, that would make his birth around 1784, and I see you have James birth as 1796.
Another interesting thing, Angus' parents were named as Duncan McIntyre & Mary Campbell. and you have a Duncan McIntyre on your tree.
Duncan is not a name carried through Angus' family, but he had a son named Dugal.
Have you been able to pinpoint where James was born?
-
It is a possibility. I only have as far back as James though.

I've come a bit late to this but I believe my grandfather is the Angus. He was Angus Macphail MACINTYRE, born January 1897 - moved to glasgow and died in 1963. I know he came from a big family and had a brother hugh.
-
Hi there Island Lass. :) There are quite a few of the McIntyres I am still coming across actually. Was your Angus born on Arran then? If so who were his parents?
Mackiwi, my apologies for not getting back to you much sooner. Unfortunately health issues came up last fall and sidelined me. Your thoughts intrigue me actually. Nobody seems to know a whole lot about James and such. Seems to be a rather large brick wall. I will send you my email via PM. perhaps we can exchange notes?
Island lass, perhaps we can help each other also.

Hi Island Lass! Have been looking for Angus for a long time now!! I have just been in touch with Hugh's granddaughter (Thanks to this site!) and just today confirmed that he is brother to my great grandmother Christina (Tina Belle) MacIntyre McClinton and i can also confirm that your Angus is their brother as well(I just found his birth record on Scotland's People and all info you have posted matches!) McPhail was his mothers maiden name..Did he by chance have a son Peter?( My mother and aunts talked about my grandmas cousin Peter and possibly a Doris? visiting them in Ohio in maybe the 60's...) I have a little on the family and i as well as(im sure) Hugh's granddaughter would love to corrospond! (P.S. finding all this info in one day has my head spinning!! Have been working on the MacIntyres for years :)

Hi there Jojo, and what a lovely surprise for me! Yes, it is your missing Angus. He had 3 sons - my dad, Peter and Angus. Peter and his wife Doris emigrated to America in 1957 - Chicago. Sadly Peter died in 1971, quite young. My dad was the only one to have children - 2. I would love to keep in touch with you and Hugh's grandaughter - it's been a long time since I've had contact with my grandad's family! We are all still based in Scotland.
-
So good to hear from you! Would you inbox me your email address? I tried to PM you but says your inbox is full :) We have some photos of your grandfathers siblings that you may like copies of!
-
Will do. That sounds great! Absolutely delighted to be in contact as we lost a lot of family photos etc following a fire. My daughter is keen to find out about her roots!
