Can anybody see an Ada Kate Allen b. 1887 in Barnet area. She was in South Mymms, which comes under Barnet for her marriage in 1918, so am expecting her to be there on those census also. Father is William Alfred Allen.
Kind regards

Living in Kensington London - all Dence's/Prince's b London

Thank you both.
Funny how some people can be found and followed, no problem. And others thwart you every step of the way. ::)
Perhaps Ada will be more 'helpful' in the 1911 census. But somehow I doubt it.
Many thanks.
Kind regards

1891 28 /134 /19
60 Princes Road Kensington
Ada Allen 4 yrs born Barnet
is a niece in a family transcribed as 'Dence' but could be 'Prince' :-\ :-\

sorry- didn't see Carole's post :)

I have tried to find the 1891 "Dence" family in 1881 but not having much luck. If the surname can be confirmed - you could then check for a marriage between Allen and ???
-
This could be the parents
Marriages June qtr 1886
William Alfred Allen Kensington 1a 225
Anna Maria Druce
-
Yes - Henry Druce was a greengrocer in 1891 - have a look at the 1881 entry for him b 1867 Notting Hill
-
16.5.1886 at Kensington St James Norlands
William Alfred Allen 26 bachelor occ coachman father John Allen occ wheelwright
Anna Maria Druce 21 spinster - father George Druce greengrocer
Witnesses Thomas Valentine and Ada Druce

That's a good deduction Carole :)
Just removed my similar information ;)

I am assuming for Ada to be so far away from home, Barnet, at such a young age, her parents may have died. Although looking at the 1911 index, an Ada Allen in resident in Barnet of the correct age, so it looks as if she had returned. Which to me means close enough family remaining to give her a reason to go back.
However, her father, is not noted as deceased on her marriage of 1918, so perhaps it was just her mother who died and her father couldn't cope.
Any deaths for a William Alfred Allen or Anna Maria Allen in the Barnet area?
Regards

Have you checked freebmd?
Have you checked the 1911 entry to see who she is living with?
USING THE FREE 1911 INDEX TO DETERMINE THE CORRECT HOUSEHOLD
http://www.1911census.co.uk/search/tnaform.aspx
Once you find a possible match - make a note of the county and district in which the person was living
Return to the index and in PERSONAL DETAILS - just put the surname of the family - nothing else
In LOCATION - Select the county and below it - type in the district
In OTHER MEMBERS OF THE HOUSEHOLD - show the full name of the person you have found on the index
Click SEARCH
The 1911 census is strictly pay per view so you will have to buy credits to view the full entry - the above instructions will only help to possibly show others of the same name in the same household

How spiffy is that! ;D
Many thanks for the info. I've searched and looking at the ages, found possible siblings.
I have found Anna Maria's death in 1939. However can't find another sighting of William Alfred Allen. I'm wondering if he absconded.
Thanks.

Although looking at the 1911 index, an Ada Allen in resident in Barnet of the correct age
But the free 1911 index shows Ada Kate Allen aged 24 living in Eastbourne Sussex
Using the instructions in my previous reply does not show anybody else surname Allen in the household
