My maternal 3rd great grandfather, James Law, was born about 1830 in the "County of Tyrownomight", Ireland, before moving to Scotland.
I'm unsure where "Tyrownomight" is and I've come to a bit of dead end with my Irish ancestors.
James' father, Daniel Law, was a "Recruiting Sergeant" for the "42nd Regiment" and I'm not too sure how to progress this either.
Any help?
Thanks,
Adam

Closest to "Tyrownomight" is County Tyrone.
-
to which I'd suggest Co. Tyrone Omagh

Hi Adam!
James Law is also my 3rd great grandfather. His eldest son, Daniel, is father to Robert Law, and he had my dad, Robert Law. Dad is making a trip to Scotland the last of April to May 4th. If you live in or around Edinburgh, Falkirk or St. Andrew's, maybe you all could meet and have lunch. He and my mom are in their 80s and we are sending them on their dream vacation. I too am trying to get some information on the Irish side of the family. I will be glad to share when I find it.

Some thoughts for you
Law in just 6 civil parishes and 14 townlands in Co Tyrone listed in
1823-1837 TITHES APPLOTMENT BOOKS based upon the index work of the Irish Genealogy Hub’s listing for each parish in Northern Ireland, The relevant original books are in the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI) Belfast .Each entry is one liner giving head of household only. The tithes are notorious for being biased and incomplete
COMBINED WITH
Law in 8 civil parishes and 13 Townlands with Griffiths valuation in the approx. year

now seeing I have one Daniel above I had a quick look at Moore and Muir in the tithes, No muirs found, leaving 241 Moor and Moore if by chance Daniel met his wife in the same parish as he lives, then her parents could be
Moore, Archd. Tl: Termority Yr: 1827 Cappagh Tyrone
Moore, Jas. Tl: Lislimnahan Yr: 1827 Cappagh Tyrone
Moore, John Tl: Mayne Yr: 1827 Cappagh Tyrone

Moore, Newman Tl: Aughagallon Yr: 1827 Cappagh Tyrone and Fermanagh
Moore, Thomas Tl: Cranny Yr: 1827 Cappagh Tyrone and Fermanagh
I read Omagh as a suggestion by someone living in Omaghs civil parish are
Moore, Anne T: Clenabogan Lower Y: 1830 Drumragh Tyrone
Moore, Joseph T: Drumragh Y: 1830 Drumragh Tyrone
Moore, Perry T: Clenabogan Lower Y: 1830 Drumragh Tyrone
that’s all I can speculate for you, unless you are very lucky its going to be a church record or similar or avery helpful person to narrow it further for you. Did his military career merit a pension so is his career recorded somewhere?

Thank you so much for all of that information. I think the Martha from Omagh is my best lead because after living in Scotland for a time, she returned to Ireland at some point and died in Omagh. Daniel was in the Black watch and may have died years earlier.
Again, thank you. I have much more to go on now.

VAL/12/B/41/36A (1860 - 1863) she is listed at No 88 and renumbered in 1863 as no 56
VAL/12/B/41/36B (1864 - 1866) she is listed at No 56 beware 2 versions may exist of the book
VAL/12/B/41/36C (1867 - 1878) she is listed at No 56 and crossed out I didn’t check further
so my assumption is she has moved away by 1867 whether she went to Scotland or died over to you.
or 'when' as asked by the ever patient hallmark I stop now

It's all very vague...
"James' father, Daniel Law, was a "Recruiting Sergeant" for the "42nd Regiment"....." Lived where? Married where? Died where?
Martha died in Omagh "sometime"..... How is this known?
