You can search the Irish Civil Reg marriage records on this link which will give you the reference number to enable you to order a copy of the certificate
https://www.familysearch.org/search/collection/list#page=1&countryId=1927084
-
You will need to search for bride and groom separately then cross-reference results to find the correct details.
-
Are you sure they married as late as 1906 given their respective birthyears? Have you checked the 1901/1911 census for them It's free at
www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search

Thank you Aghadowey for you help will take a look at the link you sent and see if I can find anything

Son Matthew's birth (1909)-
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1909/01611/1646322.pdf
Have you used that site to look for the marriage?
-
Hi aghadowey
Thank you for replying, yes have tried that site...and I have matthew's Record thank you, just the brick wall with a date and place for the marriage I can't seem to locate ???
-
I see they were neighbours of my family, assuming they married in the church in Collinstown than your not the first unable to find a civil record from an event in that church, including some of my own.
-
Hi Sinann
Thank you for you reply, well that's interesting, it's a good possibility that Collinstown Church is the church, would you happen to know the reason for no records, o well might have to leave it on hold again :'(...
Once again many thanks for your information really appreciate your reply.

No, sorry no idea why.

John Francis O'Keeffe seems to have been the local Registrar
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Westmeath/Delvin/Delvin__Barony_/1778343/
he makes note of the fact that he is finding ? marriage certs at his house.
Makes you wonder what sort of procedures were being carried out then ?

Hi dathai
Thank you so much for providing that info, just took a look at the Census...other link very interesting to say the least, and yes really does make you wonder.
Well am a little bit further on in maybe the reason why I can't locate any Marriage details.....thank you again :)
-
Thanks dathai that is interesting and rather puzzling.
The church should have sent the marriages to the Registrar? Is that correct?
I wonder was the priest handing the paper work to the couple and tell them to drop it off themselves.

You do know the Census has been on page one since 2011.
Looks like they were married 5 years according to 1911 census-
