Title: William PARROTT
Post by: muss on Saturday 05 November 11 04:42 GMT (UK)
Hi
William Parrott married Harriett Rosetta Rundle 1883 Newcastle NSW.
Other researchers have him dying 1937 Ryde, NSW. I have a family Memorium Notice which states he died 1924 Innisfail Qld. BDM Qld index  confirms death for him in 1924.
I have his children in NSW.  I am trying to find any  information about his life in Queensland.
Harriett Rosetta is on the NSW BDM death index (1923) name Parrott, she is buried in Newcastle  name Wold. I have the information on her family.
    Thank you Muss

Well, I suppose it is not important as you have sufficient information on HARRIET ROSETTA, but what do you mean by...

"--Harriett Rosetta is on the NSW BDM death index (1923) name Parrott..."

"...she is buried in Newcastle  name Wold..."

Did she divorce WILLIAM, marry WOLD, then die?

Muss,

There is a William E PARROTT, carpenter, off Government Road, Hill Brisbane end in the 1878-79 Brisbane Directory.

Do you have his parents' names? (from the marriage cert??)

There are two Qld deaths that I can see -
1924 with no parents listed
1932 - parents William and Eliza

NSW 1937, parents John, Margaret (which is obviously the one that other researchers have)

May I ask some questions please...

(I too am confused by your post re the info about your Harriett)

From the 1883 mc,
what names for his parents,
what was his occupation,
what was his fathers occupation,
where and when born

Does that confirm your known info about him?

From the 1924 dc
What was his occupation,
What was his then age,
What was his usual place of residence
how long was he in Qld, how long in NSW,
how was Harriett noted on that d.c

Cheers,  JM

Trying to avoid sidetracking, but may I note that it is possible there were two lasses named Harriett R Rundle in the Newcastle area of NSW in the 1880s...

NSW BDM online index has
Harriett R Rundle marrying George R Lloyd in 1881 registered Newcastle # 5245
AND
Harriett R Rundle marrying William Parrott in 1883 registered Newcastle # 6310

Cheers,

JM

Hi
I do not have his marriage or death certificates .  The Qld bdm index does not show his  parents names.
I cannot find any information on him. I may have to get the marriage certificate.
I am trying to piece together a family tree that was started by my cousin who is now deceased.
Harriet Rosetta Parrott is buried with Laurist Wold,  grave is owned by her son Charlton (William is his father).  I cannot find her marriage to Wold.

Louis WOLD, wharf labourer, off Newcomen St
Rose WOLD, domestic duties, off Newcomen St

Stockton polling place
Albert William PARROTT, wharf labourer, Newcastle St

NSW ER 1903 NEWCASTLE

Newcastle City Polling place

Rose WOLD, domestic duties, 22 off Pacific Street
NONE with surname PARROTT at that polling place.

Muss, may I suggest you obtain the d.c. for William Parrott, I realise his parent's names are not displayed on the index, but that d.c. should give you other info to help confirm or eliminate him from your tree.  For example, his age, his children's names, his occupation, and (from memory, I think) it should also give you the funeral director, cemetery etc.   I am suggesting this d.c. ahead of the NSW 1883 m.c. simply because it is likely that the m.c. may not have all the usual family history info either.  It occurred at a time in NSW BDM history when they were receiving only summaries of the civil registrations, rather than the full details which will be found on the local parish records....

Here is a story about a William Parrott of Innisfail being involved in a bar brawl in 1929 (so I guess the other one was also from Innisfail...)

Hi there,

I can see four children to William and Harriet/Rosetta PARROTT registered at Newcastle NSW from 1883 to 1893.

I can see that in 1897 a birth was registered in Newcastle for Rose M WOLD with mother's given names as Harriet R, father's name is not displayed.  # 5449

Do you think William may have left NSW in the 1890's?

A William PARROTT appeared in the Cairns Court in 1933 for drunkeness, he was 49 years old.

This William PARROTT would have been born around 1884.

http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/41195649?searchTerm=

He maybe the same William PARROTT who got into stife in Innisfail a few years earlier in 1929.  Innisfail is only 85 KM from Cairns.

A Carlton PARROTT joined the 1st AIF in 1916, he was 23 and his NoK was his mother, Mrs R Parrott, 22 off Newcomen Street, Newcastle, New South Wales.

Re that chap Gerry found in 1933 aged 49 and the chap that Ros found in 1929 ...

Umm...  May I speculate that William was his middle name?   Could it be that William was registered as Albert W Parrott, possibly the eldest of the four ...  registered at Newcastle in 1883, son of Harriett R and William, #26866.

Good find Gerry for that AIF enlistment, similar address to the 1913 NSW ER for Rose Wold.

A possible mc to obtain

Ivy M PARROTT and Harry PRINCE married 1908 registered at Newcastle # 11554.
It should give her parents as per this birth registration of 1890 for Ivy M PARROTT registered Newcastle to William and Harriett R, # 4299

As she was not yet 21 when she married, she would have needed consent to marry.  The person giving the consent should be noted on the mc and also the names of both her parents, (and her father's occupation), including the current surname, any former surname and the nee name of her mother.   This info will be all detailed on an official transcript copy of the NSW BDM certificate, and those transcripts are cheaper and quicker than the 'real deal' certificates.  The offical agents are listed at this link:

I should have mentioned this earlier, sorry...

The Christ Church Cathedral in Newcastle has shared the images from the parish registers, from the earliest days of the C of E in the Hunter Region.

If William Parrott's marriage was C of E, then it is likely there's the two page image of the original parish record freely available online.  Same with Ivy M Parrott's marriage.

Of course, the NSW Resources Board at RChat has the links, there's many images because there's many records, but you can see the details that the C of E clergymen were required to complete, including the consent where either the groom and/or the bride were not yet 21,  and the details are easy to read.  As the original records are naturally in chronological order, so too are the images.   Remember that there's TWO images for each marriage, and they are next to each other, it was a double page register, fitting several marriages down the left hand side and recording across the two pages.

Here's the link to the NSW RChat Resources Board  http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,369703.0.html and the Christ Church Cathedral's images are linked part way through reply #2.   I am so thankful to the kind RChatter who supplied that link.

Cheers,  JM

Further to Carlton PARROT's WW1 papers his next of kin was originally Rose PARROTT  in 1916 then this was crossed out at some stage and the next of kin changed to Mrs Ivy PRINCE and the address corrected to 23 Newcomen St Newcastle.

Hi,
1895 QLD ER have the William E PARROTT, carpenter listed as 62yo. He appears on the rolls there a bit.
In 1915 QLD State Rolls there is a William PARROTT (different to the William E above) living at Boondooma Station listed as stationhand. Also there is a Sophia Jane PARROTT. (Distict of Burnett)
They are also listed at Hyning, Cloyna, via Murgon (bailiff)

Hi there,

There's a death registration for a Sophia Jane PARROTT 25 June 1931, but registered in Brisbane.  The online index gives her father as Harry James Board Wills   # B14437  From that index, this Sophia was born London, England.

Hiyas,
Sophia Jane PARROTT's  husband William was still alive when she died in 1931(from TOVE notice)

They had 1 child in QLD William Eric in 1911. Not sure if there are other children.

There was another William in QLD at that time but he looks like a William B PARROTT...
Will have another look tomorrow when the good PC is set back up.

I'm not sure if anyone is still reading this post and I am kinda new to this…
I have records of a William J R Parrott B: 1863 (I am waiting on his birth certificate)
D: 1937 in ryde? I am interested in the QLD connection though.
He married Harriett Rosetta Rundle in 1883 and they had 6 children

Albert William
Ellen M
Ivy M
Ernest George
Carlton (he is my great grandfather and died in 1975)
Rose M

I am not sure how Harriett could be related to Laurist Wold? Allot of the Parrott side were wharf labours so maybe that is the connection?

Hope this helps.

Hi

Nice to meet someone who is researching this Family
The William Parrott that died in Ryde was not married to Harriett.  The William Parrott that died in Qld was.  Harriett is buried in Sandgate cemetery under the name Wold , she lived with him, but was not married to him. I have a memoriam
notice form the Newcastle Herald. I am trying to finish a Family tree started by my Cousin Harry Linsley who has since died. Harry was the son of Heather Parrott and Harry Linsley.   You will need 3 posts before I can send you PM.
