Title: Peebles Monumental Inscriptions
Post by: JuliaP on Sunday 06 November 11 07:11 GMT (UK)
Does anyone have access to the the Peebles MIs please?

My gggrandfather was a John Stevenson who married Janet Walker . Janet's parents were James Walker [plowman] and Kathrine Watson who lived at Kings Meadow, Peebles where she was born on 29 June 1803. She married John Stevenson a farm grieve also from Peebles on 21 May 1821 in Eddlestone and 8 June 1821 in Peebles. Apart from their son John my relative they also had sons Robert 25 August 1822 and James 22 February 1824. We think John was working as a grieve at Traquair estate

Any help tracking and of these people gratefully received

I have a few strays in with my own family .

This John Stevenson is not the one you asked for but he may be an older generation in your family.

John Stevenson late tenant Bogend 27-9-1803 wife Eliza .Murray 27-12-1817.

This John was 44 years at death , his wife was 45, a son John age 5 was also buried with them . I  think the childs year of death is 1811 but it is not clear.
